Pampered by my Billionaire CEO Husband

Chapter 165: The accident

Whenever I find myself watching a movie or drama, I never understand why the male lead pushes the female lead away instead of running away together when they see a car zooming down the street, heading straight for them.

But now I finally understood why. With only a split second to make a decision, he decided to push me away to try and save my life instead of his.

Tears were gleaming in my dark brown eyes as I looked at him lying on the ground with his eyes closed shut and he was covered in bright red blood.

I choked on my tears, disbelief written all over my face and I was in a daze, unable to comprehend the scene I had just witnessed. I didn’t even notice Evelyn driving off, skidding down the street as my eyes remained fixated on Xavier as I breathed heavily. I was unable to mutter a single word for the longest time, frozen in shock even though I knew I was supposed to call for help but the word was stuck in my throat.

Everything around me was a blur as people on the streets began to gather around us, watching on like it was some kind of spectacle. The curious and worried eyes were darting around the place as they looked at us.

"Hi, we need an ambulance here at..." The unfamiliar voice faded into the background, blended with the murmurs and whispers that filled the heavy air.

Tears were streaming down my face at this point, blurring my vision. I slowly crawled towards him, my palms and knees scraping across the rough road. I didn’t care about the pain that was pulsing through my veins and burning on my palms and knees, all I cared about was him.

"Xa...vier..." His name left my parted lips in a soft voice, my voice was barely above a whisper as I stuttered like there was a lump stuck in my throat. I extended my bruised arm, reaching out to hold onto his bloodied palm. "Oh god..." I muttered under my breath as I clung onto his hand, refusing to let go.

"Stay... with me, don’t leave me. You have... to be okay..." I continued to mumble in between sobs as I broke down in front of all the strangers that had crowded around us. "Promise me... you will be okay."
