Chapter 138: I need a favour
The word left the tip of my tongue as I looked at her with a puzzled expression resting on my face and my brows were knitted together to form a tiny frown.
"What are you –"
"I heard about what happened!" She shrieked, cutting me off before I could even finish my sentence. I watched as her gaze hardened and she clenched her jaw tightly, never once taking her eyes off me. "I can’t believe you would do that," she sneered, the words that left her lips were dripping with accusation as she glared at me with narrowed eyes, a fiery blaze burning from within.
Realisation dawned upon me within the next second and it finally clicked inside my head. My own mother thought that I intentionally tried to injure Evelyn too. I couldn’t stop the cold chuckle that escaped my lips. I lifted my head to look up at her, and our gazes matched. All I saw was nothing but rage and anger, not even a single ounce of concern for me even though I was injured too.
But I didn’t care anymore as I have gotten so used to it by now, I would even say that I am numb to it.
"I didn’t do anything," I said, my voice filled with certainty. "It slipped and fell before I could grab it. If anything, Evelyn was the one who did it on purpose and she is now trying to frame me to make me the bad guy," I sneered with a disdainful scorn.
She let out a loud scoff. "Of course now you would try to pin the blame on her now," she spat the words out like they were poison in her mouth. "Why would she try to frame you, huh? Not everyone is as manipulative and cunning as you!"
"That’s enough," Xavier demanded through gritted teeth this time, his voice boomed loudly and Jennifer snapped her eyes to look at him with an unhappy look plastered across her face.
"I wasn’t talking to –"
