Chapter 121: I will defend you
Charles let out a loud scoff as he clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"Why? Am I not allowed to?" He challenged with a defiant look gleaming in his eyes and an arrogant expression plastered across his face. "You wouldn’t do it, so maybe I shall do it on our behalf," he sneered, puffing out his chest and trying to look intimidating.
Xavier’s face darkened visibly within the next second as he leaned in closer, their faces now dangerously close to one another.
Sensing the tension that was brewing in the air, some of the officers walked over, trying to pull the two men apart. "Hey, knock it off, this is the police station. Don’t make me arrest you again."
Xavier pushed past the officers, ignoring their commands as he kept his eyes fixated on his father. "Look, I don’t care that you are my father. You don’t touch her, understand?" He warned, his voice low, dropping to a hush whisper as his dark brown eyes burned with a fiery blaze and he clenched his fists tightly beside his body.
"Are you threatening me, Xavier Wilder?!"
"Alright, that’s enough!" The officer’s voice boomed loudly, echoing in my ears.
The next thing I knew, all of us were thrown out of the police station despite their protests. Amidst the chaos, Xavier had grabbed onto my arm, pulling me away when his father’s voice stopped him.
"We are not done yet. Do you think you can just leave with her after what she did?! She is not going anywhere!" He spat as he eyed me with disdain while he held onto Xavier’s arm. "You should have seen what she had done! She slapped your mother! Are you just going to let her behave this way?! If you are not going to discipline her, I will do it!" He yelled, his voice shaking from the anger pulsing through his veins.
"I –" I was about to speak up to defend myself but Xavier beat me to it.
He yanked his arm out of his father’s tight grip, his eyes remained cold and his voice icy as a cold chuckle left his parted lips. "Discipline her? She isn’t your kid. Besides, mum must have said or done something to provoke Aurelia. I don’t believe that she would slap mum for no reason," he defended me without a second thought and an immense feeling of relief washed over me as I became much more at ease as I relaxed my posture.
