Chapter 350: The Theme For Today
I watched the kid in Désiré’s arms staring happily at the two chocolate bars I had found in my space. I had killed the last kid who had demanded my lollypop, but in this situation, I was blaming it all on Désiré. I would take my pound of flesh from his hide.
It was a damn good thing that I didn’t like chocolate nearly as much as I liked candy. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know what to do.
Even as I was silently planning the destruction of one of my men, the building under my feet started to sway with the next wave that hit. The walls were straining as they tried to fight against the rising tide, but it was a futile effort.
If I looked closely at the walls above the window, I could see jagged cracks starting to form above the frame before spreading out to all sides.
"You did good, Princess," muttered Chang Xuefeng as Tank slipped under my hand. I get why he had to be in hellhound form, but even still, I missed the man.
"Everyone is going to die," I remarked instead, not giving him the satisfaction of answering him. From this point on, I was going to completely forget about my moment of weakness, giving candy to a baby, and carry on as if I was still a badass.
It wasn’t like I was wrong, either. With all the drama, we still had less than half of the survivors on the boat. If they didn’t get their asses in gear, everyone left in the building was going to die. Either the building was going to crush them, or the dolphins were going to get a snack. Either way, their ending was going to be the same.
"Let’s hurry up, people," called Sadie as if realizing the same thing. "The building isn’t going to last for much longer. If you need help, call one of us and we can help."
See, yet another point as to why she was better than me. I was going to leave everything up to their own fates. Sure, I could snap my fingers and have everyone on the boat with all their shit, but why would I put that much effort into things?
