Chapter 347: Kindness Should Be Rewarded
Sadie and Colt turned to look at me, their hands still clasped together as if they were trying to understand my words. "You grant wishes?" muttered Colt, even as the very building around us started to groan.
"I grant wishes," I agreed. "And before you ask, there are no limitations, I can bring back the dead, and I can make people fall in love with each other." Sadie looked at me, stunned before she looked out of the window.
"I asked for heat," she muttered softly under her breath.
Nodding my head, I walked over to where Chang Xuefeng was standing in the doorway like a guardian angel. Lifting my arms up, I wiggled my fingers.
"Words help, princess," chuckled Chang Xuefeng, even as he was already bending down to lift me up.
"Why?" I smiled at him, kissing his cheek. "You always know exactly what I want."
Before he could reply, we were both shoved out of the way as a younger man came barreling into the apartment. "It’s bad," he announced, clearly out of breath but not willing to stop long enough to take one. "The waters drop, then rise, then drop, then rise."
Okay. I think I might have been blonde in a past life or something because that didn’t make a lot of sense. Looking around the room at the confused looks, I was glad to see that I wasn’t the only one.
Sucking in a deep breath as if realizing that he wasn’t getting his point across, the guy that shoved the Grim Reaper to the side stopped for a second. "It’s not like any flood I’ve ever seen," he announced finally. "It ebbs and flows like a tide. Sometimes, the water is as deep as the sixth floor, and others, it drops to the third. However, this isn’t a twice-a-day thing; it’s every hour."
