Chapter 261: What We Always Do
A bolt of lightning flashed through the sky as Dante brought it down on the back of one of the zombies charging toward him. The strike was enough to cause the zombie to yelp in agony, like an animal, before shaking off the pain and continuing to race toward the demon.
Drool floated in the wind behind it as its tongue hung from between the four-inch, razor-sharp teeth. Shifting to the side at the last second, Dante brought his knife down at the back of its skull, separating the head from the spine.
Just like the first zombie, it collapsed right away before melting into the earth in a puddle of goo.
"I’m going to need a shower after this," murmured Dante, wrinkling his nose in disgust as he briefly looked over at me. Unfortunately for him, his break didn’t last long until the next zombie approached.
"They are creepy," I grunted as I shuddered in Luca’s arms. "Like a weird human/wolf hybrid. I really want to open the brain of whoever managed to create these things cause nothing about them screams natural."
Luca hummed in agreement as he dropped his chin on top of my head. "I wonder if those watching this fight are the ones who created them," he said softly before moving his head until his cheek was resting where his chin once was.
"I mean, we can always go up and ask them," I replied, happy that I wasn’t the only one who could feel the eyes practically burrowing into the guys around me.
"They can come down," sneered Luca, his words clearly visible even if they couldn’t carry all the way to the top of the tallest building. "We’re nobody’s bitch."
I could feel him vibrating behind me, and I clung to the arm he had around my shoulders. "They set a trap for us and now are watching to see where the chips fall."
