Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse

Chapter 240: Only Way To Save Them

The second the two human soldiers disappeared, I sat back down on my swing and took a sip of my sweet tea. It was no longer as cold as I liked it to be, so with a sigh, I put it back down on the table.

Everything seemed to be swirling around me, and I couldn’t figure out why. My head was like a bubble that was about to burst and it felt like if I made a single wrong move, I was going fly apart, never to be put together again.

"That seems to be a bit dramatic, little one," purred a new voice from right in front of me. Lifting my head, I stared at Luci.

"I don’t think so," I replied, my eyes never leaving hers. I didn’t know what was going on, but I knew a snake about to strike when I saw one. There was no way I was going to give her a chance to take me out. "After all, if anyone is a drama queen, it would have to be you, Luci," I chuckled.

The small statured woman with eyes the same color as mine stared back at me, the secretive smile on her lips making me want to punch her face in.

"I mean, sending me a vision of you getting your heart ripped out was a thing of beauty," I continued. Relaxing into my swing, I gently pushed myself back and forth. "In fact, it was such a thing of beauty that for a moment; I wanted to kill all seven of the Sins and put my soul back together as a way to exact revenge on them for you. But that isn’t the case, now is it?"

Luci hummed, the smile on her face becoming even brighter as the madness in her eyes finally shone through her mask. "I mean, it was worth a try."

"It was," I agree. "It really was. But then Pride gave me his shard, and Wrath explained everything, and I came to a startling conclusion. Do you want to hear it... Luci?"

"And just what conclusion have you come to, my little replacement? I am dying to know what is going on in your brain. Should I open up your skull and see?" purred Luci as she took a step forward. However, the second she moved closer, she was forced to stop suddenly.

"And that, right there, cements what I already know," I chuckled. Picking up the sweet tea that the house just replaced for me, I took a sip, letting the sugar hit me just right. "You and I are not the same. If we were one... in any way, shape, or form, the house wouldn’t have been able to stop you from getting to me. After all, the house only obeys my commands."

"That means nothing," sneered Luci, looking around at the house as if realizing that it wasn’t just a house. "Maybe I was holding myself back from ripping out your soul and putting it back into my body where it belongs."
