Chapter 127: Give Me Your Wishes
The Gatekeeper stared at the beautiful woman in front of him, biting his lip to keep back the scream threatening to erupt from inside of him.
As he stood there, chained to invisible pillars as his flesh was being slowly removed one strip at a time, she sat in a big, oversized black chair with a pale pink blanket on her lap as she sipped a cup of tea.
Her legs were curled up under her, and she was resting her cheek on her fist. Every so often, she would mutter something that sounded like ’Deal accepted’ before going back to the book she was reading.
It was like she was sitting in the middle of her living room, only with him hanging, bleeding, screaming, in front of her.
"I can tell you whatever you want to know," pled the Gatekeeper as he arched away from the invisible hand behind him. He could feel the sharp blade pressed ever so gently against his skin as yet another strip was peeled off. "I can give you the names of those demons who are working with me. Anything. Please, just let me go back to the Gate. I’ll never do this again."
"Sorry," smiled the woman as she looked up from her book. "But I’m afraid that things don’t work like that. Forgiveness is for the Earth realm; it’s much too late for that sort of stuff here."
"All I did was try to sit on the throne. It’s not like it’s your throne that I tried to take. How about this: you let me go on with my plans, and instead of me sitting on the Devil’s Throne, I can give it to you."
The woman chuckled as she closed her book and put it aside. "You ask for forgiveness and then go right back to what you were doing before. To ask for forgiveness means that you understand what you did wrong and that you will never do it again."
"The Devil hasn’t been here for a long, long time. It’s not like he really cares what we do. If you are afraid of being punished, then don’t be. I can protect you from him," pleaded the Gatekeeper as yet another strip was torn from his back.
