Chapter 84: Begging Him To Kill Her
"An invasion?" I repeated, cocking my head to the side. "What is it this time? Zombies? Mutated zombies? Killer Clowns?"
By the look on the man’s face as he looked back and forth between me and Dante, I could see the panic. Sweat poured down his face as he frantically tried to catch his breath. His eyes seemed to be bugging out of his head, and his hands trembled slightly.
Whatever was trying to get inside of the Lair was bad enough to cause this ’made man’ fear.
"Humans," he sputtered, looking at me briefly. "There is a group of humans, maybe ten or so, at our gates, asking to come in."
"That’s your definition of an invasion? Humans? Oooh, terrifying! Tell them to go away if you are that worried about them," I shrugged, turning my attention back to the man in front of me. "You were saying?"
Dante looked down at me, a weird, amused smile on his face as if he was humoring me. He opened his mouth to say something, but he was quickly cut off by the messenger.
Sigh. I really wanted to know what Dante had decided. He seemed so different than he was last night that he must have decided to break the cycle... right?
But apparently, before that can happen, we have to deal with the terrifying humans first.
"There is a woman with them," whispered the messenger, looking over at Tank as if scared to tell Dante. "She says that she knows the boss."
