Chapter 83: The Owner’s Return
Pride gently poked at his split lip with his tongue, tasting his blood. "Gate Keeper," he smirked, poking at the cut. "It’s been a minute."
The man standing in front of the sin simply sneered, his face twisting with disgust as he looked Pride up and down. "It appears that you are no longer as powerful as you once were. How does it feel, Sin? Knowing that you are now no better than the rest of us lowly demons?"
"You’re the Gate Keeper of Hell," chuckled Pride, fixing his suit as he cracked his neck from side to side. "Theoretically, you should be one of the more powerful demons here... after our Lord and Master, of course."
"And yet, people only know about you and your brothers," sneered the man, his reptilian eye blinking both lids before turning back to normal. "But tell me, where is your Lord and Master now? You have no one to watch your backs... it’s no wonder people are out to kill you all."
Once again, Pride simply shrugged his shoulders. "It’s cute that everyone seems to have forgotten how we got to the top of the food chain in the first place. You care so much about what the meat sacks think that you have forgotten your place."
"My place? It’s interesting that you should mention that. After all, I have all my powers at the moment while you rely on a human to top you up. But I wonder... what would happen if other demons... besides you seven were able to take advantage of her? All voices whispering in the darkness sound the same. Maybe, just maybe, there will be new sins. Won’t that be fun?"
Before Pride could respond, the Gate Keeper vanished into thin air, the echoing of his laughter ringing in the throne room.
"That was pleasant," sneered Greed, stepping out of the shadows. "I always hated that guy."
Pride glanced at his brother before sitting down on the middle throne, staring forward at the mirrors.
