Chapter 31: A Wall Of Bodies
"Seein’ as you ’ave all the answers," started Luca with a smile. I was still watching the world through Max’s eyes, and I couldn’t help but smirk at the look on his face. A strand of his brown hair dipped into his eye, and it took everything in me not to reach up and put it back in its place. "What do we’s do now?"
Everyone could hear the pounding on the doors of the detachment as the zombies trapped inside tried to get out. One of the windows to the side had been broken, and a cut up arm stretched forward, its black nails trying to grab onto anything it could.
We were lucky that they were just the dumb zombies; at least they seemed to be easier to kill than the mutated ones. Still, both were completely capable of killing us, so it might not be all that good.
"I told you not to come here," replied Alicia, crossing her arms over her chest as she stared Luca down. "But I was outvoted, remember?"
Luca nodded his head, the smile on his face never leaving. "So, what you are saying is that you didn’t see this comin’."
"Fuck this," snarled Dimitri, clearly having run out of patience. "Luca, open the door."
His gun already out and leveled, Dimitri stood at the bottom of the five steps leading up to the police station. With a shrug of his shoulders, Ronan sauntered up beside him, not bothering to rush in the least. Taking out his sidearm, he copied Dimitri’s stance and waited.
Luca studied the two of them before opening the door on the left, forcing the zombies to come out in a more orderly manner. As soon as the first one poked its head out of the door, Dimitri fired hitting it right between the eyes.
It went down hard, only to be trampled by the zombies pushing from behind. The second zombie that managed to break free from the crowd was met with the same fate as I saw Ronan’s eyes turn to Dimitri. "Yous gonna run outta bullet before we’s even gonna get through the front door."
