Chapter 157: Wonderland Amusement Park ll
The sun hung high in the clear november sky, its rays spilling over Wonderland Amusement Park, casting playful shadows on the colorful pathways. The air buzzed with the hum of excitement—kids squealing, pop music pulsing faintly from hidden speakers, and the distant roar of roller coasters cutting through the chatter.
Aeri and I walked side by side, our footsteps tapping softly on the pavement, her hand brushing mine every now and then as we weaved through the crowd. It was just past 4 p.m., and the park was alive, the towering Scream Machine looming ahead, its metal tracks glinting as riders screams from its drops.
"Sounds kinda scary, ahh..?" Aeri said, her voice tinged with a hint of nerves as another round of screams echoed from the roller coaster.
I grinned. "Who’s the nervous one now?" I said, laughing as her cheeks flushed pink. "Thought you were all tough, ready to take on the big rides."
"Shut up," she said, swatting my back with a playful scowl, her eyes narrowing in mock annoyance. "I’m not nervous, Ezra. I’m just... observing."
"Observing, sure," I said, my hands shoved in my pockets to keep from grabbing her hand right there. "So, what’s the plan? What should we hit first?"
Aeri tapped her chin, her pout turning thoughtful as she scanned the park, her gaze flicking from the spinning teacups to the towering Ferris wheel in the distance. "Let’s start with something light," she said, nodding like she’d just solved a puzzle. "Then we can work our way up to the big ones, and maybe save the Ferris wheel for the evening when it’s all lit up."
I nodded, liking the sound of that. "Sounds good," I said, giving her a mock salute. "Light rides, then the scary stuff, and we end with a chill Ferris wheel ride. Let’s do it."
"Yes, yes, perfect!" she said, as she grabbed my arm and pulled me toward a nearby ride—a carousel with brightly painted horses bobbing up and down to cheerful music. "This one first. It’s cute."
