Chapter 369: Can’t resist anymore
"People," Ruby frowned.
She was used to avoiding people when she did not feel like talking to somebody.
But since the day she stepped inside the entertainment industry, she realized it was difficult to do that.
Exchanging pleasantries and faking a smile was the last thing she had ever thought of doing so naturally, it did not sit well with her when she tried to do it.
"Once you get a hang of it, you will do it perfectly," Mo Jun said, finding a sense of camaraderie with her, "In the past, even I did not think I could become the CEO of Mo Entertainment. But here I am..."
Suddenly, Ruby’s head whipped to the side.
Mo Jun straightened up, "What happened?"
"I don’t know. I keep feeling like..." Ruby gulped down the juice in her glass as she shook her head, "I am probably overthinking but I keep feeling like somebody is watching me."
Mo Jun immediately pulled out his phone and doubled the security.
"It’s fine. Maybe it’s in my head."
"No matter what, Ella has handed me the responsibility of protecting you. It’s better to be safe than sorry."
"Thank you," Ruby showed a small genuine smile to the man.
"Mr. Mo, there you are. We have been looking for you all night," As a couple of men walked to Mo Jun, he immediately turned to Ruby, only to find the place behind him empty.
He fell speechless. A hand appeared from behind the bar counter and gestured him to the opposite direction.
"I had been looking for you too," Mo Jun lifted his glass as he walked to the people, "Let’s go to the other side and talk."
Once the crowd had moved away, Ruby stopped hiding behind the counter and sat on a bar stool.
Just as she had taken a seat, a smooth voice floated in her ears.
"Tired?"
Ruby stiffened.
The familiar voice made a shiver run down her spine, the kind of shiver that made her feel like she needed to run and at the same time it made her stay.
As she turned around, she could only see a silhouette.
Ronan stepped out of the shadows. Dressed in a white shirt that was paired with black pants, the man was holding a glass of whiskey in his hand.
His gaze trailed down her body, scanning her from head to toe before he met her eyes, "You look beautiful."
"What are you doing here?" Ruby hadn’t seen him since their last encounter in the hospital.
And this was the place where she last expected to meet him.
After all, Ronan had no reasons to be present at this party...
Except...
The man smiled, "I was here to congratulate you for doing so well."
Ruby looked at the man coldly for a moment before she averted her gaze, "Thanks."
"But it looks like now I don’t want to congratulate you anymore."
Ruby frowned.
"You seem to have a lot of people who are willing to celebrate with you."
A hint of confusion appeared in Ruby’s eyes, "What...?"
"Like your date tonight?" Ronan glanced at distance where Mo Jun was standing, "It hasn’t been long since you left Maxwell Hill but now you seem to have found your next—"
’Pak’
Ronan’s head whipped to the side by the impact of Ruby’s slap. The sound was muffled in the noise of the party but the imprint of the five fingers on his cheek was enough to know that Ruby hadn’t held back in the slightest.
"I don’t see how whom I found is any of your concern," Ruby walked past the man.
But she had barely taken two steps when her wrist was grabbed. Ronan tugged her back and flipped her over his shoulder.
One moment, they were surrounded by a huge crowd and the next, they were isolated from everyone as the door to a VIP room slammed shut behind them.
"It’s very much my business and concern to whom you share your attention with."
Ronan pinned Ruby to the bed.
"Why?" Ruby narrowed her eyes, her gaze colder now, "So, you can come humiliate me everytime?"
"Humiliate?" Ronan’s eyes softened, "You think I can ever humiliate you, Ruby?"
The look in his eyes made her breath hitch.
"You are the woman I admire the most. I respect you, everything about you. How can I ever think about humiliating you?" His breath hitched when her lips parted, " All I know is I can’t see you with anybody else, Ruby Ambrose. You belong with me."
"Ronan..."
Her words were cut off as the man slammed his lips against hers in a searing kiss.
Her chest heaved, her loose braid came undone as his fingers threaded across her hair, grabbing the back of her head as he deepened the kiss.
Their bodies tangled on the bed and they could feel the heat in each other’s body.
"I have been thinking of this... of you... since the day I last saw you in hospital. I have been craving you like a dying man," Ronan’s breath rasped as he mumbled against her lips, trailing warm kisses down her neck and to her chest.
He paused and looked up at her.
Ruby nodded slowly.
And then without any warning, he tugged her gown.
"Careful, I will need it..."
"I can get you more of these dresses. All you want," Ronan smiled as he pressed a kiss along the rim of her bra and tugged it open with his teeth, "Everything you want."
Ruby grabbed the collar of his shirt, "I can get myself anything I want. I don’t need you for that," She pulled him up, capturing his lips again as she unbuttoned his shirt.
His gaze deepened as he flipped them over, letting her be on his body as he kissed her passionately.
Ruby’s eyes fluttered close as she cupped his forehead. She was far too gone to resist this man. She had been doing it for too long but the man had torn down all her walls.
It was beyond her control to resist him anymore.
