Chapter 352: Get her
It has been quite a while since she had asked his help in looking into the Yu Family’s history in detail.
And knowing Adrian, no investigation would take so much time if he was the power behind it.
Ella began to speak but before she could utter a single word, his hand rose and gently cupped the back of her head.
He pressed a kiss against her forehead.
"Rest," he said calmly, "We’ll talk later."
Ella opened her mouth.
"...But—"
He had already stood up.
His touch trailed down her cheek, in a kind of touch that reassured her.
Ella closed her eyes for a second.
When she opened them, he was helping her lie back down gently, arranging the blanket atop her.
She watched him quietly.
Tall frame. Straight shoulders. Expression carved from ice but eyes that refused to leave her for even a second too long.
He walked to the door.
Ella’s gaze followed him.
He didn’t look back.
Not until the very last second, when his hand touched the doorknob. The man halted there for a moment and looked over his shoulder.
His eyes met hers again and then he stepped out, letting the door close behind him.
Silence filled the room again and the hospital room felt bigger without the man’s domineering presence.
Ella stared at the closed door, her lashes lowering ever so slightly.
The softness in her eyes vanished.
Her fingers curled slowly under the blanket and her eyes narrowed.
"Second Master!"
The moment Adrian stepped out of the hospital room, Ji Yan stepped forward.
A layer of sweat covered his forehead and his knees trembled.
There was a storm brewing behind Adrian’s calm eyes that made it unable for one to look straight at him.
Ji Yan inhaled a deep breath and stepped forward, "Second Master, some time ago, there had been an attempted abduction with Miss Yu..."
With shaky hands, he turned the tablet in his hand towards Adrian.
And there was a shaky video of a cab rushing past the packed alleys. If one looked closely, they could see the silhouette of Ella being seated inside the cab.
Adrian’s eyes darkened and suddenly the hall fell silent. There was an eeriness lingering in the air.
Ji Yan gulped before he continued, "To not offend Miss Yu, you had instructed our men to stay far back to protect her. That is the reason it took them a long time to reach the venue."
"By the time they reached, the situation was handled and the son of the Mo Family personally escorted Miss Yu back to the Eve Mansion."
The storm in Adrian’s eyes did not budge at all. His fingers pressed the edge of the iPad.
The corner of the screen splintered.
Ji Yan stiffened.
Adrian looked at the man, the question in his eyes was obvious even though he did not utter a single word.
Why did nobody report about that matter to him? Why was he unaware that such a thing had happened to Ella?
Ji Yan braced himself mentally before he opened his mouth again, "The chief of guards that was assigned to protect Miss Yu did not report the matter seeing that it was handled in time and you were busy..."
’Crack’
The splintered corner of the iPad broke, drops of blood trickling down the corner.
"Second Master!" Ji Yan immediately reacted by pulling out a clean handkerchief and tending to the wound that Adrian seemed completely unconcerned with.
"The chief of guards... Sigh... Considering his long time service to the Old Master and Old Madam, we had to reduce the intensity of the man’s punishment. But nevertheless, he has been fired and banished from the capital."
A frown lingered between Adrian’s brows.
Ji Yan knew that the storm was far from passing, but the air had loosened a bit. And he knew that he had made the right call by firing the man who made the call.
How dare they keep news of Ella from Adrian just because she was safe in the end?
To think that those people assumed that any work in the world was more important to their second master than that woman?
Adrian looked at Ji Yan, "How is it going?"
Ji Yan straightened up, "The incident today is not simple... Although Jennifer was the one to act, it seems like somebody else was pulling the strings behind..."
Adrian remained silent.
"Get her."
Ji Yan nodded, "Our people are already on it. Mo Jun had to rush Miss Yu to hospital so she escaped in the chaos but he had also dispatched his people to look for her. But in any case, she would end up in our hands."
Adrian did not say a word to that.
Ji Yan had a feeling that his Second Master knew more than he was letting him in on. But he was not sure if it was even his place to ask.

Ji Yan’s eyes widened for a brief moment.
Adrian suddenly looked at him and chill crept down his spine. Gulping, he nodded his head, knowing not to question it further.

In a dark alley.
"That bitch... That bastard..." Jenny stopped in front of a broken mirror and looked at her messy appearance.
A few weeks ago, she would have gloriously taken over the entire Mo Family.
Yet, just because of a mindless interference from Ella, she lost everything to Mo Jun.
And now, the two of them had actually joined their hands to celebrate.
Jenny’s eyes reddened with rage just at the thought of it.
At this moment, there were sounds of approaching footsteps.
Jenny froze and turned around.
A person stood in front of her, enveloped in the shadows, wrapped in an oversized black hoodie.
"I did what you asked me to... You told me that once I succeed, you will help me get everything back from Mo Jun. Now..."
