Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession

Chapter 350: Not theirs ( - updated)

Mo Jun trailed off, realizing that he misspoke, "Of course, Mr. King would have no reason to back the Yu Family up, unless he is doing it for you?"

Doing it for her?

Ella frowned.

Others might not know but after what happened the last time at the Yu Mansion, why would Adrian protect the Yu Family?

That too... when he had never shown interest in them before, in both her lives, despite them being her family! Even thinking like that was bizarre to Ella.

Mo Jun cleared his throat, realizing that he probably said something inappropriate.

He immediately changed the topic, "By the way, I wanted to ask something..."

Ella looked at him.

"Don’t get me wrong..." Mo Jun seemed to have a shred of hesitation when he started speaking.

But after a moment, he inhaled a deep breath and opened his mouth, "I am grateful for your help. If not for you, I would probably never have won the case against Jenny. And the control of the Mo Family wouldn’t be in my hands..."

Mo Jun paused, gently gauging Ella’s reactions before he continued speaking, "But I still don’t understand. How did you know everything beforehand?"

Mo Jun had thought about it day and night but he couldn’t comprehend how Ella knew the ins and outs of the case.

Not only did she know the secrets that Jenny was hiding, but she also knew about the case proceedings.

Whatever Ella revealed to him, happened right on the next day in the court.

And at times, it made Mo Jun feel like Ella could see the future.

To some extent, it was a very scary thing. Yet, this person was actually helping him.

Mo Jun did not dare to think what it would be like if Ella was working against him.

When he looked up, there was a small smile playing on Ella’s face as she shrugged her shoulder, "I just happen to have access to some top secrets," she winked playfully.

Mo Jun paused for a moment before the suggestive look on her face started making sense to him.

Right, with Adrian King around, how could any of this be a big deal for her?

Ella could see right through the man’s thoughts.

She knew that her ambiguous words would make Mo Jun think that she had received Adrian’s support in helping him win the case.

So, she misled him on purpose as she couldn’t really tell him that she knew all this information about his family from her past life.

...

’Ring ring’

Mo Jun declined the call.

"I told you... I could have taken the cab," Ella shook her head, "You have recently taken over the company so it’s not wise for you to stay away for long."

"I intentionally didn’t drink much so I could drop you personally," Mo Jun sighed, "Especially after what happened the last time."

The car fell silent when he said that.

"Did you figure out who it was?"

Ella’s brows tugged together. The last time, Mo Jun had appeared in time when things went wrong with the cab driver.

Weirdly enough, even the investigation team couldn’t get to the bottom of it and the investigators died mysteriously.

Sensing Ella’s silence, Mo Jun realized the matter was not as simple.

Just as he opened his mouth to speak, Ella grabbed his forearm, her alarmed voice reverberating inside the car.

"Careful!"

A shadow whirred past the road and appeared in front of the car.

Mo Jun cursed under his breath and swerved the car to the left. And then he hit the emergency brakes.

Ella’s head knocked against the glass pane with a ’thump’.

"Ella!"

"I am fine," Ella said as she started to unbuckle her seatbelt, "Check the person outside."

At Ella’s reminder, Mo Jun immediately snapped to his senses. He gazed at the woman lying a little distance from his car.

He rushed out of the car.

Ella clutched the side of her head, inhaled a deep breath and pushed open the car door.

But the moment the door opened, a shadow pounced over her.

"You bitch! You fucking bitch!"

An inconsolable scream reverberated in the streets.

It took Mo Jun a moment to respond that the woman who was lying unconscious on the road was no longer there.

The moment he had opened the car door and approached her, she got up to attack Ella.

However, what took Mo Jun aback was when he turned around, he saw an awfully familiar face.

"It’s you?"

Jenny did not spare him a single glance as she strangled Ella with both her hands.

Ella was already feeling dizzy but the sudden attack rattled her completely.

She staggered back, her back hitting the car door as Jenny exerted more force.

"AH! You bitch!"

Jenny screamed suddenly, her grasp around Ella’s neck loosened as she looked down at the pointed heel digging into her foot.

Jenny gritted her teeth and shoved forward again but before she could reach Ella, Mo Jun yanked her back by her elbows.

Jenny screamed like a madwoman, "I knew... I knew it couldn’t have been only you...!" She screamed in Mo Jun’s grasp, "Nobody knew that my child was not your father’s, but his brother’s... Nobody knew it. I had it all meticulously planned..."

Jenny clutched her belly as she screamed, "But now, it’s all gone.. My child is gone, everything I had wanted is gone..."

As one looked at Jenny, nobody could see that graceful university professor anymore. If anything, she looked dangerously pale.

Her face was covered in fine lines, there were heavy bags under her eyes and it looked like she had not eaten or slept in days.

It took Ella a long time to compose herself. Grabbing the car door, she looked at Jenny who barely seemed to be constrained by Mo Jun.

"It was you who helped him, wasn’t it? I always knew you were a risk to my plans! Just because you have a backing, you think you have it all, don’t you!" Jenny screamed, tears rolling down her eyes.

However, in the next moment, she burst into a peal of maniacal laughter, "But you don’t do anything at all, Ella!"

Ella’s vision was growing blurry as the woman’s words echoed in her head.

"I might be pathetic but so are you! Ella Yu...? Yu? Do you know why the Yu Family treats you so differently from Esther? It’s because you are not theirs at all... hahaha... You are not theirs...!"

’Drip’

’Drip’

’Drip’

Drops of blood trickled down the side of Ella’s head, staining the white car door.

"You are not theirs at all... hahah... not theirs..."

The maniacal voice faded into the distance.

"Ella, what’s wrong with you?" Mo Jun’s concerned voice resounded.

But before Ella realized, the ground under her feet turned unsteady and darkness enveloped her completely.

...

’Esther... Princess, come here... Are you fine?’

’Princess, it’s your birthday, be happier. What else do you need?’

’Ella, don’t just stand there. Esther’s friends are coming over. If you don’t feel well, go stay inside your room.’

’Yu Family? Hahah... The Yu Family...? You are not even a part of them!’

’You are not theirs at all...’

The voice kept looping and overlapping like someone tearing a piece of cloth right next to her ear.

Ella wanted it to stop.

She wanted everything to stop.

But the voices only grew louder... louder... until they no longer sounded like Jenny.

They whispered like echoes trapped in a deep well, growing more and more distorted.

’Ella, move aside. Esther will sit here.’

’Don’t embarrass us, Ella.’

’Not theirs... not theirs...’

Ella clutched her head, stumbling blindly in the thick, suffocating darkness. There was not a single source of light around her.

All that was there was just the neverending stretch of darkness.

"Stop..." she whispered, but her voice didn’t come out at all.

Her throat burned. Her chest tightened.

She lifted her hands to wipe her tears but her fingers touched nothing.

Her arms... weren’t there.

Her breath hitched.

She tried again, desperately patting her face, her shoulders, her chest—

Nothing.

There was nothing to touch.

Her body... was disappearing.

The memories of her past life came crashing in, the brutal torment, her abrupt death...

"No...no, no—" Ella choked, except she wasn’t even sure the sound was coming out.

Her silhouette broke apart like ash swept away by wind.
