Chapter 657: Ethan’s Fury
Third Person’s POV
The violet fog was violently dispersed by the tremendous eruption of demonic energy.
Eleanor and Aurelia’s expressions changed.
It was then that they heard the screams of the rabbit monsters.
Almost the entire horde that had been pursuing them had been impaled by the demon’s attack.
Some were pierced through their chests.
Others had their limbs skewered, while many had been completely impaled by several spikes at once.
None had been spared.
Their bodies trembled helplessly upon the grayish-blue spikes, their blood flowing freely from their wounds.
A thick blood mist gradually gathered throughout the ruined city.
Then, as though drawn by an invisible force, that blood mist began flowing toward the sheep demon.
It entered its body through its pores and mouth, causing the demon’s wounds to slowly close while its aura became even stronger.
The outer district of the ruined city soon resembled a scene from a blood-soaked nightmare.
The sheep demon calmly walked through the carnage.
Its body was surrounded by a thick layer of bloody mist, while its sinister eyes remained fixed upon the two women standing at the edge of the city.
Eleanor’s expression became extremely ugly.
Aurelia’s heart sank.
They had been so close, yet now, the demon was standing between them and freedom once again.
The sheep demon’s smile widened as it slowly approached.
It seemed to deliberately enjoy the fear written across their faces.
Then, with a casual movement, it raised one of its clawed hands toward them.
Eleanor and Aurelia suddenly found themselves unable to move.
They struggled desperately, but their bodies had already been pierced by the grayish-blue spikes.
Fortunately, the demon had intentionally avoided their vital organs, as it wanted them alive.
That realization was far more terrifying than death.
Pain and despair appeared within their eyes.
Tears slowly gathered in Aurelia’s eyes as the hope that had kept her moving finally began to collapse.
They had only wanted to find Ethan.
They had only wanted to reunite with him.
And after so many years, it had finally seemed possible.
Why was fate so cruel to them?
Why, after finally getting so close to him, had they been thrown into this wretched realm and forced into such a desperate situation?
Eleanor’s heart was filled with the same despair, but she still refused to lower her head.
Her eyes remained fixed upon the approaching demon.
Just as it reached them and moved its claw towards them, a sudden blue light pierced through the thick blood mist covering its body.
It appeared so abruptly that even the sheep demon didn’t react in time.
PSSH!
The blue ray struck its outstretched arm.
Its enormous arm was instantly severed from its shoulder.
No blood sprayed from the wound.
The terrifying cold contained within the attack had frozen the wound completely, leaving the severed surface covered in thick layers of ice.
The enormous sheep demon’s expression froze as its body was thrown backward like a rag doll and disappeared into the ruined city from the sheer force contained behind the blue light that had struck its shoulder.
Silence descended, and Eleanor and Aurelia stared in disbelief.
Neither of them had expected anyone to appear, and neither had even dared to hope for it.
This was too much of a miracle.
Yet the power contained within that single attack had been so overwhelming that they immediately understood one thing.
Whoever had just attacked the demon was powerful enough to sever its arm with a single attack.
Perhaps, they had finally been saved.
Their eyes instinctively searched through the blood mist.
Who?
Who had attacked the demon?
And why?
Was this person here to save them?
Or would they demand something from them in exchange?
The questions rapidly flashed through their minds.
Then another blue ray of light suddenly descended from above.
It landed directly in front of them.
The dazzling blue light gradually faded, and a tall young man slowly emerged from within it.
Long violet hair flowed down to his waist and fluttered gently in the cold wind.
His handsome face was frozen into an expression that neither woman had ever seen before.
His crimson eyes were wide with disgust, but beneath that disgust was something far deeper, a bone-deep fury as he looked at the struggling sheep demon in the distance.
His gaze slowly traveled across Eleanor’s bloodstained face.
Then to the wounds covering her body.
Then toward Aurelia, whose clothes were torn and whose beautiful face was streaked with tears, blood, and exhaustion.
His expression became increasingly cold.
For a moment, neither woman could speak.
Their minds seemed to have stopped functioning, as they simply stared at him.
The long violet hair, the familiar face, and those crimson eyes.
The features they had spent years remembering.
The person they had desperately searched for.
The person they had almost convinced themselves they might never see again.
Eleanor’s lips trembled, and Aurelia’s eyes widened as tears immediately began overflowing from them.
Neither dared to believe this miracle, because if this was another illusion, and if fate was playing another cruel joke on them, they didn’t know whether their hearts could endure it again.
The young man’s fists slowly tightened at his sides.
His gaze remained fixed upon them.
And when he finally spoke, his voice was unusually low and trembling.
"...Mother."
Eleanor’s entire body trembled, and the world around her seemed to disappear.
For eight years, she had waited to hear that voice again.
For eight years, she had refused to accept that her son was dead.
For eight years, she had continued searching even when everyone around her had told her to abandon that hopeless dream.
But now, her son was standing before her, fully alive and real.
"Ethan..."
Her voice broke.
Tears immediately streamed down her cheeks.
Aurelia could no longer hold herself back either.
"Ethan..."
The name escaped her lips in a trembling whisper as she stared at the young man before her.
The same man she had been searching for, the man she had desperately hoped was truly her lost fiancé.
