Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)

Chapter 656: Shadow of Despair

Third Person’s POV

The afterimages created by its tremendous speed became noticeably slower, and the demon’s expression changed.

It had already experienced Eleanor’s Violet Mist Ice and knew that it wasn’t something to underestimate.

But it had still underestimated the sheer concentration of ice-element mana contained within this domain, as it hadn’t expected a weak existence like Eleanor to construct such a spell.

The invisible cold began invading its body.

Frost rapidly formed across its legs, then its waist, and finally its arms.

The demon’s movements gradually became slower as the concentrated ice-element mana continuously invaded its body and began freezing it from the outside.

At the same time, the violet mist released by Eleanor’s Ice Burial began mixing with the abundant ice-element mana permeating the surroundings, gradually transforming into a thick violet-colored icy fog that spread throughout the ruined city.

The sheep-headed demon initially didn’t pay much attention to the strange fog.

However, after inhaling more and more of the violet mist, its expression slowly changed.

Its acute senses, which had allowed it to perceive the surroundings with astonishing clarity, gradually became muddled within the dense violet fog.

Even its powerful soul sense seemed to be unable to properly distinguish the environment around it.

A seemingly weak yet persistent frost began creeping down its spine and spreading throughout its enormous body.

But this frost was different from ordinary ice, as it didn’t merely freeze its flesh.

It seemed to seep deeper, slowly invading its mind and even touching its soul.

The sheep demon’s expression gradually became vacant.

It had initially regarded the strange sensation as nothing more than an annoying side effect of Eleanor’s spell, but after remaining within the violet fog for several breaths, a different kind of cold suddenly emerged within the depths of its soul.

It was the coldness of loneliness.

The feeling of being small, helpless, and insignificant before an unforgiving world.

Memories that had been buried deep within its mind for countless years suddenly began resurfacing.

A time when it had been nothing more than a weak little demon.

A time when it had been bullied by stronger demons and forced to hide itself in dark corners merely to survive.

A time when the world had seemed enormous and cruel, and it had possessed neither the strength nor the courage to resist it.

Those memories gradually became clearer within its mind.

Yet strangely, the violet fog surrounding it no longer felt threatening.

Instead, it seemed warm and comforting.

The violet ice fog slowly wrapped around its body as though protecting it from that cold and unforgiving world, giving it a strange sensation of security that it hadn’t experienced for a very long time.

It wanted to remain here.

It wanted to simply close its eyes and sleep within this strange embrace.

The sheep demon didn’t even realize when it had stopped moving.

Its enormous body stood motionless within the violet fog, while its yellow eyes stared blankly into the mist before it.

Eleanor had long expected this to happen, yet contrary to what one might expect, she didn’t attack.

Instead, she turned toward Aurelia.

"Run."

She didn’t wait for Aurelia to question her before grabbing her arm and rushing toward the edge of the city.

Eleanor knew very well that the demon was too powerful for them to defeat.

The brief opportunity they had gained was entirely because she had caught it off guard with the unusual ability of her Violet Mist Ice.

A normal Ice Burial spell did not possess such an additional attack on the soul.

She had managed to exploit the demon’s unfamiliarity with her bloodline variant and temporarily affected its mind through the strange properties of her violet ice.

But that advantage wouldn’t last.

She wasn’t foolish enough to believe that she possessed a spell capable of killing a Rank Four demon of this caliber in a single attack.

Even Aurelia’s Rank Four Sonic Boom had only caused superficial injuries to it, despite catching the demon completely off guard.

If that attack had barely managed to affect its body, what chance did they have of killing it after it had been immobilized?

More importantly, Eleanor couldn’t shake the feeling that the demon had never truly taken them seriously.

If it had genuinely wanted to kill them from the beginning, she suspected that the battle would have ended much sooner.

That realization made her even more cautious.

The demon was only toying with them, and she had no intention of staying around long enough to find out what would happen when it finally became bored.

The two women quickly crossed the ruined streets, desperately heading toward the outer edge of the abandoned city.

They were almost there, and the endless frozen plains were already visible beyond the final row of ruined buildings.

Hope began returning to their eyes, but then...

Behind them, a pair of yellow eyes suddenly lit up with a sharp crimson glow.

The sheep demon’s vacant expression disappeared.

Its memories faded beneath the overwhelming hunger that had returned to its mind.

It slowly raised its head and started to speak in its unknown language

"Tjjdk adkjn uuuuryy fankfn afhrenf. Dnan djdmen jiejiejiejiejie..."

The strange words echoed through the fog, followed by its unpleasant, nasal laughter.

Although neither woman understood the language, the tone alone was enough to make their hearts sink.

The sheep demon slowly stepped forward; its eyes contained a disgusting mixture of greed and lust.

Instead of getting caught off guard and being angry, it had instead enjoyed the strange attack of Eleanor’s violet fog on its soul.

And now it wanted more.

It wanted her, the one who could cast it.

It laughed again before suddenly spreading both arms and gripping the twin bone blades at its sides.

Then it thrust both weapons violently into the ground.

BOOM!

An enormous amount of grayish-blue demonic energy erupted from its body and poured into the two bone blades.

The entire city trembled.

The next instant, countless grayish-blue spikes erupted from the frozen ground.

A forest of sharp spikes instantly spread across nearly two hundred meters of the city, tearing through buildings, streets, and everything unfortunate enough to stand within their range.
