Chapter 24: After Class… *
Caius had expected to hate Alchemy and maybe spend the entire class ogling Arlette like everyone else, but it was actually not that bad. It was chemistry if chemistry was magic, i.e., if it would make no sense to anyone except a mage and a native of this world.
When Arlette talked about the extraction of Moonroot and Darthsbane and how, depending on the composition it could be used to make an energy supplement or a poison, it actually made sense to him.
As class continued, he found himself paying more attention to Arlette’s teachings than her breasts. A crazy notion.
Even more crazy was, when Caius looked round the class, he realized it wasn’t an isolated thing. The boys who had been ogling now leaned back in their seats, their expressions confused as they tried to come to terms with the complexities Arlette was rambling on and on about.
"Next class, we’ll see how well you fare at extraction. Read up on Angelwood, Mandrake root, and Grande-Blac before then.
Good day."
And with that, after hours of lecture, Alchemy Class was over. As she opened the portal on the wall back to her office, Arlette afforded Caius one last look with a brow raised expectantly.
Caius watched the portal close behind her and got up to head to her office for a bloodsucking session sprinkled with some Dark magic lessons.
"Thank you, Caius," Doran said in appreciation of Caius supplying him sentences he had missed during Arlette’s dictation because he had been lost in a trance of their sexy Professor.
"You’re welcome," Caius said with an easy smile, "Just try to pay better attention next time."
