Chapter 180
Kevin was momentarily taken aback but then remembered that last Friday, he had pretended to be Mia’s cousin to fend off Quentin Rodriguez, who was bothering her at the supermarket. Finding a convenient excuse, he nodded and said, "I need to talk to Mia Wilson." Ignoring Quentin, he walked inside.
Mia had overheard Kevin and Quentin’s conversation at the door. She quickly stood up, trying to control her nervousness, and said calmly, "Kevin, you’re here." Realizing her tone was too formal, she reached out and patted Kevin’s head, adding, "I haven’t seen you in a few days: you seem taller."
"Yeah," Kevin replied, finding Mia’s elder demeanor amusing but continuing the act of being her cousin.
"My mom asked if you’re coming over for dinner tonight?"
"Dinner?" Mia was momentarily stunned. Seeing Kevin wink at her, she realized he was making it up. Noticing the others watching them, she quickly pulled Kevin outside.
They walked to the end of the corridor and stopped, facing each other but unsure what to say. Kevin, who had felt he had so much to tell Mia, found himself speechless and just stared at her awkwardly.
Mia suddenly giggled and complained. "Why aren’t you talking? You were quite chatty last night. What’s wrong now? Cat got your tongue?" Remembering Kevin’s words from the previous night, she couldn’t help but feel a bit annoyed. "Mia Wilson, I was wrong," Kevin said, feeling deeply guilty. Mia already had it tough, and he shouldn’t have said those hurtful things.
"You can scold me, I can write a self-reflection."
"Forget it. I’m not your homeroom teacher. Why would you write a reflection for me?" Mia smiled, her mature charm shining through. She sighed and said, "Kevin, I know how you feel about me, but I’m married. It’s impossible between us. But I promise we can be friends. You can tell me anything that’s troubling you, and..."
