Penny’s lips parted slightly, her breath catching in her throat. Her mouth felt dry as his dark gaze locked onto hers, mirroring her stunned expression. Her racing heart drummed in her ears, drowning out the rational thoughts in her mind.
She pressed her lips into a thin line, swallowing to ease the tension in her throat.
"Grandma gave me this tea," Zoren’s low baritone pierced through the thickening tension between them. "She said it’ll help me tonight."
"A tea to help you... tonight?" she repeated, her voice almost hoarse. He nodded. "Like... how?"
"She said not all women are easily satisfied."
Her face instantly flushed a deep red, and she held her breath for a moment. Zoren’s lips curled into a slight smirk as he released the strands of her hair from his fingers. When his hand carefully settled on her back, she almost flinched at the warmth of his touch.
"Breathe," he chuckled in her ear, his tone playful, drawing his head back.
"Why would Grandma say that? It’s so embarrassing," she murmured, touching her burning cheeks with the back of her hand. "Renren, did you... drink it?"
It took him a moment to answer, "No, I didn’t."
"You... didn’t?"
"I don’t need help in that area," he replied, pride lacing his voice. "I know I can handle it just fine."
