No camera, no champagne, no classy music playing, no soft laughter, no fine dishes, no elegant clothes, and no snap of flashlights... everything was silent, yet her ears rang from the eerie silence.
Why was she still living? What was she still living for? After everything—she was thrown away, discarded, and forgotten.
Was that how people forget someone?
Amanda clutched the piece of paper in her hand and gritted her teeth in anger. Since everything had been exposed, Mason was nowhere to be found. She went to the apartment they always met at, but it had been deserted. She asked around the neighborhood before someone gave her the new address.
Amanda looked at the address again and a shaky laugh burst out of her lips. Mason was living well in a good neighborhood now, when he was part of the reason she ended up like this.
She took a cab to the neighborhood, to the address, and stared down at the story building with a sigh. After all the money he collected from her, he was able to rent this place.
She walked in and met the security guard, pretending to have a special package. She took the elevator, covering her head with a black scarf which hid the side of her face.
As she got to the apartment, she rang the bell and waited. She really hoped he was there, and to her shock, a woman opened the door—a woman in a see-through crimson robe, her face flushed, panting heavily. Amanda stared down to see white liquid trickling down the woman’s thigh, and a wave of tears washed over her.
"Who’s there, Sandy?" the familiar voice of the man of her nightmares came in, and Amanda’s body instinctively tensed up from fear—yet the anger she felt overcame it.
She was here breaking down, broke and lost, yet Mason was enjoying his time with another woman.
"I don’t know. It seems like a beggar," the woman responded, looking at Amanda’s shattered clothes.
