Chapter 30: Baron Fredrick
In a small town near the borders of Aragon, close to the forest, a man could be seen running through the night streets.
There were hardly any lights on the street. The man had to use a crystal lamp to see the way. The lamp had two wooden square bases and four panes of glass covering all sides, with a crystal inside emitting light.
The man was dressed in a full ankle-length black robe that had a hood, but he didn't put it on. His feet stepped in water puddles on the cold stone roads, splashing water in all directions as he ran.
His breaths were heavy, but he still kept running. He went through the streets as fast as he could. After a while, a building came into view.
It was a small manor, with light crystals along the metal fence and on the building. The manor was beautiful even at night. It gave off the aura of luxury—anyone who saw it would instantly know that this was the home of a wealthy person.
The man reached the gates of this manor. He banged on it, and after a few seconds, a guard walked to the door. Dressed in simple steel armor and holding a spear in hand, he looked at the man and asked,
"What business do you have here now?"
"Tell the Baron I need to speak with him. It is a matter of urgency—one that could make him a very rich man," the man spoke with eagerness.
The guard was hesitant to let the man in, but he had seen this man here before, and he also understood how much his master loved anything that could give him more money.
"Fine, follow me," the guard said and opened the gate for the man. The man walked in and was about to head toward the manor, but to their surprise, they saw the door of the manor open, and the Baron walked out fully dressed.
