Chapter 17: Doubts
A striking woman with a chic, short hairstyle stepped out of the York City International Airport, exuding an air of sophistication. Clad in a tailored business dress, she effortlessly blended professionalism with style. This alluring woman’s presence commanded attention, making some guys turn in her direction.
Two bodyguards were escorting her while her assistant was pulling her trolley bag, following her from behind. Some onlookers recognized her as Sasha Smith, the second wife of a famous business tycoon, Dominique Smith.
Sasha stopped at the arrival lounge, her eyes eagerly searching for someone. It did not take long when a familiar voice called her name.
"Sasha!" Ashton waved his hands, greeting her with a wide grin on his face.
"You’re here. How about my husband? Where is he?" Sasha was expecting Dominique to personally fetch her today.
"He sent me here to fetch you. He is busy," Ashton lied, scratching his face while smiling sheepishly. He couldn’t possibly tell Sasha that Dominique was fast asleep in his office due to drunkenness.
The excitement in her eyes disappeared when she heard that. "What did he do yesterday?" she asked Ashton expectantly. Yesterday was Sabrina’s death anniversary and she had entrusted Ashton with the task of keeping an eye on Dominique.
Ashton knew that he needed to cover up for his best friend. He didn’t want the couple to argue just because of Sabrina. She’s already dead.
"Nothing in particular. We just attended the Circles. Oh right, we ran into Melody there. And she tried to flirt with Dominique again. But don’t worry, your husband is faithful. He just ignored her." Ashton reassured her.
Sasha’s expression darkened upon hearing that. Clenching her teeth, she balled her fingers into tight fists, her frustration evident in the tension radiating from her posture. "That bitch again! I can no longer tolerate this. She won’t stay away from my man unless I give her a lesson!"
