Chapter 106
"Well, you got me." George leaned on the bench, still wearing the same relaxed smile. Her answer surprised him because he never expected her to confront him head-on. "Yes, Nurse Dalton told me everything about your mother’s condition and also how you don’t want her to know about your interviews on TV."
Madeline felt as though her soul was being sucked out of her body. She almost fainted, thinking a dangerous person was lingering around her mother, ready to drop the truth bomb while Madeline wasn’t here.
"Y—You, don’t you dare to tell her about this, alright? She’s already battling cancer. I don’t want her to get stressed out," Madeline said. "As a future doctor, you must be aware that it’s strictly prohibited to leak a patient’s confidential information, right? "
"Sister-in-law, I’m not a monster. I’m not going to hurt your mother just because we have an unfinished problem," George said. "But I’m not a saint either. So why don’t we make a deal first?"
Madeline knew that whatever deal George wanted wouldn’t be beneficial for her. After all, he was Lance’s brother, so he probably had some heinous scheme in his mind.
But she had no choice but to protect her secret, so she asked, "W—What deal?"
George smiled mysteriously and patted the seat next to him. "Sit with me, sister-in-law. Let’s have a chat first."
"Why do you keep addressing me as my sister-in-law? Your brother and I are—"
"Contractual lovers?" George guessed, causing Madeline to be speechless.
At this point, she might have nothing left to hide from this man anymore.
