Chapter 51: The light of hope
Davi tried to think quickly about the best strategy to survive at that moment, so he needed to start understanding the situation they were in.
It didn’t take long for someone to suggest that they had been teleported there using the crystals. Davi supported this theory, after all, he had definitely felt as if he had been teleported.
However, the most important thing was to figure out where they were. Just from the presence of killer flowers, it was possible to tell they were in a deep part of the Rift.
At least they probably weren’t too far from the others. First, because teleporting a large number of people to a very distant location would be almost impossible. And second, because one of the students knew that this type of deadly plant usually appeared around the fortieth floor, which was close to where they had originally been sent.
That said, the most crucial factor was their surroundings: a narrow cave, almost completely dark, with apparently only one exit.
Of course, being surrounded by plants that could kill you if you touched them by accident wasn’t ideal. But it also provided some level of protection.
Most of the larger and more powerful monsters on that floor wouldn’t be able to enter such a confined space. On the other hand, if they stayed there too long, they would die from a lack of food, not to mention the constant risk of accidentally touching one of those vines.
Beyond that, the plant tended to grow in the direction of living beings. That’s why the first order Davi gave was to carefully cut any vines they saw growing along the ground.
And after removing the danger, at least for now, they could also take advantage of the powerful poison produced by the plant.
Fortunately, among the students, there was an [Low Alchemist] who managed to extract the potent venom from those deadly flowers. By coating their weapons in the poison, they had a real chance of taking down even stronger monsters.
However, to maximize the venom’s potential, they needed someone who could attack from a distance. With that in mind, Davi looked around, searching for someone who could fill that role.
