Heaven’s heart thudded against her chest as she stared at the two lines in the small device in between her fingers. She unconsciously held her breath, eyes wide and unblinking. The silence in the bathroom increased until it turned unbearably ear-splitting.

Knock knock!

Heaven jumped, dropping the pregnancy test at the sudden noise that disrupted the silence.

"Heaven?" Dominic’s voice followed from the other side of the door. "Is everything okay?"

Heaven slowly turned her head at the door, staring at it, terrified. Her heart was still racing and skipping beats, taking a step back on instinct.

"My love?" he called, knocking once more. "Tell me if everything is alright. Otherwise, I have to go in."

"Uh..." she cleared her throat and shook her head, trying to recompose herself from the shock she was in.

"I..." her voice cracked, making her clear her throat once again. "I’m okay! Just taking a dump — I’ll be out in a minute!"

Silence followed.

Dominic didn’t speak anymore, making her glance at the small gap underneath the door. He was still standing outside.

"Goodness," she breathed out, combing her hair back with her fingers. "Why am I acting as if I’m in a horror movie? There’s nothing to be scared of."
