Chapter 255: The Frost Dragon (2)
"Dr–Dragon?"
The shout attracted the crowd. They all turned toward the sky in the distance. For a second they forgot the worry and fear in their hearts.
The creature in the sky didn’t seem big. But its built reminded the crowd of the old tales and songs. The minstrels and bards often painted a vivid description of the dragons. Their massive wingspans, their horned head and tail, their ability to control the elements, and their strength.
People loved hearing about the once-rulers of the sky. They were extinct. Or rare. Either way, no one had ever seen one. They were a source of awe and reverence for many.
The night sky obstructed a clear sight of the dragon. But the almost infinite amount of thin threads in the sky pushed the darkness a little. The thick beam of golden light also shone and revealed its massive outline.
"Is this why were are held captives?"
Another shout broke the serene silence. The crowd gasped. True. They looked at each other. The thin thread coming out of each one didn’t disappear. It was still there, flowing out of their body. It didn’t hurt. Not that they could sense it.
But the unknown always garnered fear. The explorers of the ruin stood in the conquered market district. None had any experience dealing with Fate. The majority didn’t even know it existed. The ones who knew didn’t know they could be seen or gathered. None knew what would happen once their Fate ran out. So they trembled in fear. Some cried. Others cursed. They prayed for Heaven’s mercy, hoping, even begging, to survive this ordeal.
"What is happening over there? Can someone tell me?" Rayos, the target of many of their curses, stood at his tower. His relaxed and lazy demeanor changed when Paula showed the Dragon. Like others, he felt shocked, then worried, and finally...fearful.
