A Week of Peace
A week of enjoying himself, a week of peace, and most of all a week of immense dread and worry over what Norman Osborn might be doing behind closed doors, as while he tried to find enjoyment in life, he was still mostly focused on Norman's office, as for someone who wanted to be mayor and was CEO of a company, he for some reason didn't enter his office all that often.
And the only times he did so were whenever he wanted to have a talk with someone in private without Harry possibly overhearing because of either legal reasons, medical reasons, or because it was something he didn't feel like Harry needed to know.
During that time Jake made the time to look over his sister, as she had many things she wanted him to know and see after their few months away from each other, which was a little annoying, but it was something Jake wouldn't trade for the world, as he had missed all this.
Mom: "Aw, look at our kids getting along with one another."
Dad: "(Rubs Mom's shoulder) Yeah... makes me wish that I had a better relationship with my brother."
Mom: "Now dear, you know there's nothing you could have done with someone like that."
Dad: "I... I... I know, but still, it's just something I wish and think about sometimes, you know?"
Mom: "Not really; my father raised me in a pretty open but traditional household. Add that to me being an only child, and I can't really understand how you might feel about your brother "Tiger" and all the stupid things he constantly asks of you."
The conversation about their dad's brother, whom neither Jack nor Haley knew much about other than to let them know if he ever showed up, quickly transitioned into basically the lead-up to the two possibly getting another sibling as the two quickly dashed to their bedroom.
Haley: "What are Mom and Dad doing?"
Jake: "Parent things."
Haley just looked confused for a bit but quickly changed gears, as she didn't really care what her parents were doing, especially when it came to showing her big brother that she made her first friend, who quickly grew to the point that she had her own group of little girls.
Jake: "Why are all of you posing like you're the stars of an action movie?"
Haley: "(Cutely giggles) Because we thought it'd be fun, DUH!?"
Haley takes her picture from her brother and rushes off to her room as she shows him her diary, where she mostly drew her days, and shows him while also telling him everything all of them did along with how they became friends.
As much as Jake would have loved to completely focus on what his sister was showing him and saying, he couldn't be truly focused, as Norman had finally entered his office and opened his bookcase, revealing a hidden staircase.
Ekaj: "The man lives on the top floor of one of the tallest buildings in the city and has some secret stairs? What? Does he not get enough steps in his day-to-day activities already?"
The white spider quickly dashed inside as it followed Norman and his group of bodyguards as they entered a massive laboratory where a vat with a giant dark greenish-looking sludge was sloshing around as some scientists were observing the tank.
Norman: "Progress, people! (Claps hands) I want to know where all my money is going!"
Scientist 1: "Well, sir, we've found, thanks to our tests, that the serum will work like the super serum that supposedly created Captain America..."
Norman: "Now Jeffery, we both can hear that, but just come out with it, man!"
Jeffery: "It's... Jerry, sir, but anyway the only downside so far is—"
Just then a man snarling and drooling foam out of his mouth breaks through one of the walls and frantically looks around for something before suddenly clenching his chest before letting out a low, demonic-sounding grunt as he then topples over.
Norman: "Oh, FOR GOD'S SAKE, PEOPLE! CLEAN THIS MESS UP! How hard is it to make sure everything is nice and clean when I come by to see how you're all burning through my money!"
Jerry: "Sir... we're trying our best, but after the mass release of the symbiotes back then, it's become (Norman starts hovering over the man and leaning towards him) much... harder... to... make... your... soldiers..."
The poor man said the last part almost as quiet as a mouse, as Norman was now dominating his sight; he was so in his face that if this was anything romantic, they'd start kissing, but since this is more like a mad doctor scene, Norman looked like he was about to either smack Jerry or straight up kill him.
Norman: "I. DON'T. CARE! MAKE. MY. SOLDIERS. LIKE. I PAY YOU IDIOTS TO DO!"
Norman walks over to the chamber and presses his hand against the glass as he looks at it sloshing around and looks at the clipboard with it, saying the compound was called G-01Bl12 with a stop and toxic signs stamped all over it.
Seeing the slow progress of what he wanted, Norman just clenched his hands and sighed as he made his way towards the table of random gadgets.
Norman: "At least tell me the next wave of my suits is actually beyond the prototype stage?"
Scientist 2: "Y-yes (clumsily salutes), sir! The suits are coming along well; by this time next year we'll have managed to make suits that can hold an entire arsenal, from foam bombs and razor wire openers to a hidden connector to the back that lets them connect with the pack."
Just then a flying glider crashes and bangs everything inside the place as it seemed to break free from its chains and almost wound up crashing into Norman; if only Norman were a little less skilled, he'd be turned into a giant skewer...
Norman: "Just promise me that by FaceTime! In case something bad happens, like what happened with all the tankers by that fool Doc, Oc and his revenge on me for something I didn't even do. "
Having nothing else to say to the scientist nor having anything he might want changed to everything they had managed to build. Entering the elevator, Norman quickly gives everything a once-over for one final time as he leaves the place.
Of course, back in the office, nothing really changed since nothing needed to do so, but inside the secret lair, the very second Norman left, everyone began talking trash about him, his desires, and how once everything was said, they would show him what it means to mess with "nerds."
Having the little spider go over to the suit and all its parts, the symbiote monster thing started to melt as it expanded across everything and went back to normal, also known as the poor raccoons melting themselves into nonexistence.
All while the normal Jake was relaxing on his bed, as his not entirely conscious thought had completely pissed off his sister, and for some reason, she was able to send him straight to his room without anything to eat or even dessert.
Honestly, not being able to eat didn't really matter. I mean, it would have been nice, but compared to possibly getting one of your best friend's fathers in trouble with S.H.I.E.L.D. as he found a secret lab that had something going on, along with overhearing how he was basically the root cause of the symbiote's creation.
Ekaj: "Just do it! It's a job, and it's not like it's going to hurt Harry. He's a fully grown boy if that's what worries you, and even if he wasn't, he probably has more than enough money to do as he pleases for the rest of his life!"
Jake: "(Grumbles something under his breath.) I can't decide on what to do. Besides, it's not like he's doing anything illegal other than possibly being in charge of one of the many disasters that exist in New York City."
Ekaj: "You're such a wuss."
Jake: "Yeah, well, no matter what you say, I still got people I care about and want to keep safe."
If Ekaj had a body, he'd probably be rolling his eyes right now over how ridiculous Jake sounded for not doing what he was tasked to do by Nick Fury or, even worse, like possibly creating a terrorist or terrorist group that tries to destroy everything or just about anything and everything that isn't them.
Jake has no real idea what to do, but for now he just wants to enjoy a peaceful life, so he takes his time to gather more information and makes a promise with Ekaj that whenever school starts up again, he'd do what Ekaj feels they should do, he'd do it.
