Naruto: The Shameless Uchiha Tycoon

Chapter 102: The First Batch

Six weeks after Ren and Kakuzu dispatched the coded manufacturing orders, they arrived at one of Ren’s established factories in the Fire Capital industrial district.

By late morning, the district was loud and crowded, with the smells of heated metal, fabric dye, perfume oils, and curing materials mixing in the air.

Ren and Kakuzu crossed the busy production floor and entered a secured assembly room behind the main factory.

The managers were already waiting for them beside several crates of separately manufactured components. Because Ren had divided the work between different factories and workshops, none of the supervisors understood what the finished products were supposed to be.

A senior textile supervisor approached first. She gestured toward several open crates filled with padded cuffs, adjustable silk straps, complex harness sections, and sheer lingerie samples.

"The garments and straps are finished, Lord Ren," she reported, glancing between the sheer lingerie and the padded cuffs. "We assumed this was some kind of private clothing collection, but none of the harness patterns match ordinary clothing. And the padded restraints are too soft for security equipment."

Before Ren could answer, the factory’s lead seal technician arrived carrying a specialized, padded tray. Resting on the velvet were dozens of small, unmarked chakra cores.

"The mechanisms are stable," the technician reported, adjusting his glasses. "But the highest output levels are excessive for simple massage equipment. Even with the core supplying the chakra automatically, prolonged use against ordinary muscle would cause bruising."

Ren opened his mouth to explain exactly which part of the body the cores were intended to stimulate.

Kakuzu stepped directly in front of him before he could begin.

"We will inspect the assembled units in private," Kakuzu told the managers. "Bring them into the sealed testing room."

Ren looked at his back.

Kakuzu did not move aside until the confused supervisors had begun carrying the crates away.

Inside the sealed testing room, the first assembled prototypes immediately proved why the manuals devoted so many pages to quality control.

The technicians placed the first chakra-powered model onto the heavy wooden inspection table. When the seal technician channeled a standard sliver of chakra into the base, the device vibrated with such violent, unbalanced force that it immediately began walking across the table by itself, rattling aggressively toward the edge.

Kakuzu caught it before it could launch itself onto the floor and immediately turned it off.

The next prototype was supposed to be the discreet, low-profile civilian model. When activated, the casing amplified the internal motor, emitting a harsh, mechanical rattling noise that could easily be heard out in the hallway.

Ren picked up one of the flexible-material samples. The molding was perfectly smooth and visually flawless, but the moment he brought it close, a sharp, deeply unpleasant medicinal smell hit his nose.

The final test involved the luxury padded cuffs. A technician successfully locked them around a solid wooden test block. They closed securely and smoothly. However, when the technician attempted to channel chakra into the emergency release seal, the lock refused to disengage. The safety mechanism had been installed backward.

The technician spent two minutes trying to pry the thick leather apart with his fingers.

Kakuzu finally sighed. He drew a standard kunai from his sleeve, wedged the sharp steel beneath the locking mechanism, and forcefully pried the heavy buckle apart, gouging deep scratches into the wooden test block in the process.

Kakuzu sheathed his kunai and looked at the technicians. "Any product requiring a combat weapon to remove has failed its safety inspection."

Ren dismissed the junior technicians but kept the factory managers inside. He retrieved the master manuals from Black Vault and compared the failed products against the original designs.

He did not mention the System. He simply worked through the problems one by one.

The first device had tried to escape across the table because the internal cores had not been balanced properly. The supposedly discreet model used too little padding around its chakra mechanism, which explained why it sounded like a broken construction tool.

The control seals were too sensitive. A slight movement of the adjustment switch caused the pre-charged cores to jump several output levels at once.

Several casings were difficult to open for proper cleaning, and the unpleasant medicinal smell came from one of the factory’s ordinary perfume mixtures reacting badly with the new flexible material.

Ren gave the managers another three weeks.

"Fix the smell, reduce the noise, soften the controls, and make sure the restraints can be opened without Kakuzu attacking them with a kunai."

Kakuzu folded his arms. "The kunai worked."

"The customers should not need one."

"What should we do with the failed units?" the textile supervisor asked, looking between the damaged cuffs and the device that had nearly thrown itself off the table. "Destroy them?"

Ren shook his head.

"Keep them in the training room. Let every new technician see what happens when the cores are uneven, the seals are installed backward, or the wrong scent is mixed into the material. It will be cheaper than repeating the same mistakes with the premium batch."

Once the managers left to revise the production lines, Ren unrolled the premium customization ledger on the table.

Kakuzu leaned over to inspect it. "We are already struggling to assemble the basic models without destroying the test blocks. You want to offer custom modifications?"

Ren showed Kakuzu the customization options intended for the wealthiest customers.

Buyers could choose the color, finish, temperature, vibration pattern, and exact size of the product. The most expensive editions came inside silk-lined mahogany cases with private locks, spare components, and expedited replacements.

Noble customers could have personal initials or private symbols stamped discreetly into the base, while family crests could be carved into the locked storage case.

Kakuzu scoffed. "Crested sex toys are idiotic. No noble is going to pay a premium just to have their family bird stamped onto a vibrating cylinder."

Ren didn’t argue. He simply slid the ledger to the right, revealing the suggested retail markup for the custom noble line.

Kakuzu stopped talking. He stared at the profit margin, his eyes slowly tracking the staggering numbers from the production cost to the final retail price. He traced the line with one finger, verifying the math twice.

Kakuzu looked up at Ren. "How many noble crests can we legally reproduce?"

A sharp knock at the heavy inspection room door interrupted the financial planning.

Kakuzu covered the explicit ledgers with a standard textile report as Ren opened the door. A factory messenger stood in the hallway, holding a thick, heavily perfumed envelope bearing an elegant wax seal.

"This arrived at the front office via private courier, Lord Ren," the messenger said, bowing deeply. "The courier stressed that it was for your eyes only."

Ren took the envelope, broke the wax seal, and unfolded the heavy parchment. It was a note from one of his most established, influential noble contacts in the capital.

Ren scanned the elegant handwriting.

I have heard through the textile guilds that your factories are developing a new private luxury collection. You know my tastes better than most, Ren. Why have I not received a preview?

Ren folded the letter and tapped it against his palm.

He had not sent out a single catalogue. The ultra-luxury feedback harness had not even reached the prototype stage, and none of the simpler products had passed final inspection.

Yet a few unusual textile orders and material requests had already spread through the capital’s noble circles. The Fire Capital survived on gossip almost as much as it survived on money.

Kakuzu held out his hand for the letter. Ren passed it over.

After reading the message, Kakuzu looked toward the broken cuffs and the chakra device that had nearly shaken itself off the inspection table.

"We are not sending her any of these."

"Obviously."

Ren had expected to finish the second batch before the noble circles discovered the new line.

That secrecy was gone now.

Kakuzu held out his hand, and Ren passed him the letter. After reading it, Kakuzu looked toward the broken cuffs and the chakra device that had nearly shaken itself off the inspection table.

"We are not sending her any of these."

"Obviously."

Kakuzu returned the letter. "Then the revised batch had better be ready in three weeks."

Ren glanced at the elegant handwriting once more before folding the note.

The prototypes now had an audience waiting for them.
