The Nightmare Wizard

Chapter 119 (2) — The First Legendary Mage J. Thompson

Despite everything he had been through, he didn’t give up. He waged a personal war, hunting every beast he encountered, dedicating his life to exterminating every living beast in his path and deciphering spells to strengthen himself. During his journey, he united the remnants of humanity to fight by his side, reclaiming territories taken by the beasts. Throughout his journey, he witnessed firsthand the destruction the beasts had wrought, which strengthened his resolve to eradicate them.

There was no truce in his attacks. He traveled across the entire southern continent until there wasn’t a single magical beast left. After this, he finally reached the same level as Akeron at his peak.

He was the second to reach the mythic level... He founded universities, magic institutes, and power structures to ensure humanity would never fall again. Unlike Akeron, he did not create an Empire, and since his family had died, almost all books claim he never remarried or had children, so his descendants could not be used for political ends.

Teaching the survivors, he created the most powerful army in history. J. Thompson left the horrors of war and focused on studying magic more and more. His army and ministers governed the Empire, making it prosper. Even without J. Thompson on the battlefield, his General Orven Kaldrass shone with his great combat prowess, becoming the third mage capable of reaching the calamity level.

No one knows exactly how he managed to train his army, but by the end of the world’s reconquest, there were more than 10,000 mages of Mythic Level, making it humanity’s second golden age. And unlike Akeron, who hunted like a predator, wanting to consume beasts to strengthen himself, J. Thompson and his men launched an extermination campaign. The slightest rumor was enough for thousands of mythic-level mages to launch themselves to exterminate any sighting of a magical beast.

The repression was total; there was no mercy. Many people condemn what J. Thompson did, and others applaud his actions, as he did them entirely for humanity.

There was a brief silence. So much information made William and Lia’s heads ache, but the professor’s voice was so captivating that, despite many hours having passed, they didn’t feel tired in the slightest.

"But that wasn’t what made him so renowned and respected to this day."

The room filled with tension. Was everything she had told them not enough to make everyone remember him as a hero?

"All those achievements make him worthy of the title of the greatest ruler in history, a wise emperor, even the precursor of all magic, but J. Thompson holds an even more important title. During his reign, we were invaded. An unknown race crossed the boundaries of the universe and arrived in our world. Not even J. Thompson’s entire army, at the peak of its power, could stop them; the amount of blood spilled far exceeded all previous wars."
