Chapter 186: An Exaggeration
No update for the past few days mainly because I got sick and other issues irl that I really don't want to talk about.
So, before reading this chapter I know damn well many of you will probably furious special those who has a deep knowledge about Nasuverse lore, but let me tell you this merely based on my own understanding and perspective of that world.
Don't take it literally because this is just a fanfic.
Like the title says, an exaggeration.
Also, since it's monday please vote!🫡

The culprit has no idea his subordinate was planning to assassinate him while he tests and admires his newfound power.
However, even if he did, he wouldn't mind Emiya for entertaining such thoughts.
If you ask him why he wouldn't mind?
That's a few reasons for that; the first reason is that he's very familiar with the guy and knows his entire history, meaning he could be very forgiving knowing what his past is.
The second reason is that he's someone who is close to him emotionally and considers him a friend.
Third, he wouldn't be able to do shit to him anyway, especially in this establishment; even if it's not here with his new power, he wouldn't be able to harm him.
And the final reason: he never really did the deed; he never harmed him physically, because at the end of the day it was merely a thought, a mental plan that did not happen in reality.
All in all, he would absolutely let it off.
But let's say he attacked him; he would naturally retaliate, however, depending on the 'intensity' of his intent to kill.
He would just slap him on the wrist if it's simply a test attack without the intent to kill, or if he's seriously trying to murder him, the punishment would be kicking him out of the shop.
That's the heaviest punishment he would give him.
No matter what, he would never kill him or excessively harm him, because he was too emotional for that.
He can't kill the counterpart of his brother-in-law and not feel guilty about it.
It's simply a matter of conscience.
Even if Shirou was absolutely fine with it, because he hated Archer and would never consider that he's that guy.
But that's where the problem lies: he's fine with killing his future self; Alexander won't, because thanks to his previous life memories, his perspective on this matter was different.
To him, there was no difference between Shirou and Archer.

While I was testing my newfound power, because unlike other people, I can actually use my power unrestricted here.
Having tied to the concept of [ Victory ] I could do amazing things using my limitless imaginary energy to do unbelievable things.
To simplify it, after becoming a nascent aeon of victory, I have gained the ability to do whatever I wish within the broad concept of victory.
It's like my first magic but with a higher power ceiling.
I could grant absolute victory to myself or others, meaning whatever I do, I will win, as long as the opponent's level isn't a notch higher than mine.
For example, someone with a higher-level concept or, simply put, being of a higher dimension.
But this comparison hardly matters, as in my own universe, no one is at my level.
No, actually there are few.
The root of all things, the undisputed number 1, and there's D who claimed to be at root's level.
What a fucking joke!
(A/N: I realized how stupid that statement was when I wrote it years ago. It was basically comparing a coughing baby vs. a hydrogen bomb, nonsense. I can accept that she's high universal level, but anything above is simply an exaggeration.)
Now that I actually managed to barely reach the threshold of a universal being in terms of authority and power level.
That claim is absolutely bogus; that's the Akashic Record!
An entity that has every record of things that existed and would exist.
A being that is at least a multiversal level!
A character at that level really needed a 'favor' from someone like D?
There must be something going on, because that's some goddamn unbelievable!
I would rather believe that D is talking about being at the root's avatar level, because becoming an equal to the root is simply her wet dream.
The Akashic Record knows everything within the nasuverse, which means…
It was already aware of the existence of the shop, and that 'favor' D claimed from the Root was probably just an excuse.
Maybe even D herself isn't aware of whatever the Root is planning.
But that's just maybe, with no evidence.
Either way, even if I find it suspicious now, there's little I could do about it because the difference between our levels is staggering; I wasn't even considered an ant in its eyes.
If it wanted to, it could have killed me before I could gain a foothold in this world.
But since it didn't make any move, it means it wasn't hostile to him.
Then there's D; while I don't believe her claim of being Root's equal, I could confidently say that she's stronger than me right now.
Because she's within the level of a main God.
She's also an outer god being herself because she's not a creature within this reality.
Also, other outer gods, they're beyond my level at the moment.
Upon realizing that, my recently inflated ego (not really) popped like a cheap balloon once more; I was not invincible(title card with music flashes) within my universe.
As they said, the more power you have, the more you realize how little you are.
I let out a wry laugh at this uncomfortable reality.
Then Morgan, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke after reading and sufficiently understanding what an aeon core was.
"How unreasonable the thing you just bought is; I can hardly believe it, even after reading its description. This place is absolutely ridiculous, selling an item that could conveniently make you a universal level powerhouse for such a low price." From what she could see, the price was an absolute joke compared to its actual value.
Do you even realize how hard it is to raise your power level at a certain stage?
It takes decades, if not centuries, of continuous hard work just to break through.
Not only that, you need opportunities, and without them you're simply stuck.
And after arriving in this shop, what did she witness?
She saw priceless things that countless beings outside would kill and do everything to have, yet in this place it's actually priced dirt cheap.
Even a beggar's scraps are way more expensive than the things this place is selling.
Do you know how much a holy grail costs in this place?
A hundred credits!
A mere hundred coins!
Do you have any idea if this knowledge ever got out of this place?
Magi who risked their lives, their families' fortune and even their future just to win a cup that was priced at merely a hundred credits!
Granted, its only use is making a path to the root and maybe granting a chance to acquire the third magic, which wasn't even guaranteed, but it's still something that many magi would kill for!
Those participants in the many versions of the Holy Grail War, how would they react to seeing the thing they are fighting for with their lives on the line was merely a cheap commodity in this shop?
Would they laugh at their own stupidity? Or kill themselves out of despair?
Maybe even both.
Although she may look calm outside, inside she was honestly shocked by the absurdity of this place.
Because in her view, the place was better than any paradise heaven promised.
Simply because the benefits are within reach and you don't even have to work hard to get them either.
It made her think how stupidly powerful the being who made this place is.
Morgan looked at me for a moment and came to the conclusion that while I am the owner, I was not the creator of this place.
After all, a being that could create this unfair place couldn't possibly degrade themselves by buying things they made.
It was pointless.
However, that did not change anything at all because having the authority to become the shop owner of this establishment means that the being who made this possible is supporting me, the owner.
And as long as I remain the owner of this place, it's guaranteed that I will become an extremely powerful being in the future.
Even right now, Morgan couldn't even fathom the power I possess by simply digesting the core.
It was unbelievable how convenient it was to get that kind of power without any drawbacks whatsoever; even if there were any, compared to its benefits, the side effects were simply a joke.
Morgan couldn't help but say. "At your level, the root akasha is probably your only equal."
Hearing her say that made my eyes twitch, of course…
She won't understand because she isn't at my level; if she did, she wouldn't say things like that.
The first magic, second, third and so on.
Magi hype them up, like they're omnipotent powers.
Which makes sense considering, to them, it might as well be.
But you have to understand, the magic that they get from accessing the root is not merely a fraction; it's a fraction of a fraction of the real thing.
It was no wonder those who have seen the root went insane, because it was not meant to be seen by mortals.
Only by reaching a certain threshold power level would you realize.
What a weakling a magician is.
Even heroic spirits themselves believe that a magician is a being that equals or surpasses them in some way or another.
But those statements only really apply to beings below planetary-level existence.
Those grand servants probably noticed something amiss but couldn't tell simply because they are below to truly see what is above.
With a helpless smile, I replied, "No, it's not comparable at all."
"Hmm?" Morgan raised one of her eyebrows at me, misunderstanding my meaning.
"So, you're above the root in terms of power then?"
I quickly shook my head. "No, that's not what I'm trying to say. What I mean is the root is something that can kill me like an ant, even at my current level."
I was exaggerating my strength, because I would absolutely be worse than an ant, but she doesn't need to know that.
Morgan was looking at me like I said something incomprehensible.
Yeah, that would be my reaction too before I reached this level.
