Chapter 118: A Goddess’s Fears
My breath hitched as I faced the love of my life, knowing this couldn’t continue, yet there was no going back.
“Calm down?! I can’t do that! Do you even know what we did?! I bonded us for eternity! Nothing can break this bond! Not even if you come to hate me!” I declared, clenching my hands into fists.
Everything was going wrong, as the damn flower was staring right at me from his chest.
If this is… Amor Aeternum flower, this… is over! I… I… screwed up your life in a way I can’t take back!
This was a bond that only happened in divines, and it was indestructible. Not even Fenrir and Valdios had it in their previous life, since the gods forbid these bonds in the divine world, and the only one who could’ve made it was Aster herself, and I, her divine daughter and a fool, made it happen for the first time in millennia. My divine power had been constantly evolving since I was freed from the book’s confines, making me more unpredictable and unstable over time.
Elias… you don’t even know anything about our past, how I killed you before, and how I’m the cause of everything! If you know… this little piece of heaven will become a living nightmare for you! With my own hands, I ruined the new start of life for you!
My heart was breaking in ways I thought it would never, especially after the moment of passion we had.
“That means… you’ll never…” I trailed off, feeling hollow inside.
Even though I knew little about the Amor Aeternum flower, I knew he would never be free of me.
“Vivian,” Loki breathed, “Let’s just calm down for a moment.”
Those eyes that were so full of love would soon be filled with hate for me.
There’s no way you won’t hate me once you know everything! I can’t have you call me a monster, too! Not after…
“No,” I pulled away from him, attempting to keep my heart from shattering, yet there was no stopping it.
I… I never wanted this to be your reality!
“This wasn’t supposed to happen! You and I can never be!” I snapped, realizing that in my hurry, I had left the brooch in the bathroom, which was still on the bloody rags.
The moment my body gave off a white hue, Loki clasped onto my cheeks as he used his superior speed to close the small gap between us.
“Vivian, calm down.” He huffed, firmly holding me in place, as his eyes shimmered.
A second later, I felt all my nerves quell at his command. It felt like a wave of calm rushing through me, leaving me to realize that the bond was doing more than linking us for eternity.
“But the bond… it shifted,” I mumbled, tears starting to trail down my cheeks, prompting him to wipe them away.
Loki pressed his forehead against mine, releasing a soft hum. “So, what’s bad about that?”
“So, when I leave…” I trailed off, biting my lip, yet forcing myself to face him.
You deserve the truth. I’m sorry for being so selfish before. Perhaps if you knew, this wouldn’t have happened.
“Yes?” He breathed.
“You won’t be able to love anyone else,” I mumbled, voice still shaky.
If his hands weren’t on me, I probably would’ve been freaking out again. That was when I realized how eerily calm I was.
Elias… the god of emotions… is really in you.
“Well, that’s not really a problem when I don’t want to love anyone else but you,” Loki assured me, going to kiss me, triggering me to yank away from his touch entirely.
The instant I was away from him, I felt all the emotions he had quelled.
Something isn’t right. I… I’m… what have I done to you?
“You don’t know me to say that!” I snapped again, turning away from him, escaping into his side of the room.
“Vivian, I know enough.” Loki sighed, following behind me, prompting me to turn to him.
The moment I saw him, he appeared as if he was about to cry because of my words, and I couldn’t help but clasp my chest.
I… Fool!
“What? You know nothing about me.” I mumbled, shaking my head.
“Hah… You’re a strong-willed woman who swept me off my feet from the moment I met you.” Loki simpered, cheeks rosy, pink. “Vivi, I think I fell in love with you when I saw you.”
Before I could argue, Eli stopped me by floating next to me, as his tail pressed against my lips, successfully silencing me.
“Hush, and listen to us.” He huffed, allowing his other half to continue.
“You are a woman who fiercely protects and adores us and the only one around us who sees us for who we are.” My vampire chuckled, pushing me onto the bed, as I hadn’t noticed it was behind me.
The next moment, Loki was on me, straddling me, as his speed was unfair.
“You have so many scars that I’m not sure I’ll probably never get to see them all, but I’m going to heal them. I promise.” He simpered, going to kiss me.
Before he could, though, I spoke. “You only say that because you don’t know all I’ve done.”
Everything is going to end if you know. Yes… There is no way you will love me after knowing. No one would.
I was a being full of discord—one incapable of order.
“Then tell me. Let me shoulder all your burdens with you.” He declared, gazing at me head-on.
His arms had me caged under him, as I shook my head slightly. Even though I wanted to escape, I was trapped under him. There were no moves left for me to use.
“Will you let me save you, even if you hate me?” I asked, feeling like there was a boulder pressing on my chest.
“What? I love you, Vivian. I’ll never hate you.” He professed, prompting me to close my eyes.
No… I’m a monster and a murderer.
“But I’m the reason your family’s fractured,” I mumbled.
“You aren’t the reason. That lies with Edna and the choices she made.” He countered.
“No… That isn’t true,” I barely voice, as my tongue felt heavier with each second that went by.
Why does the world feel like it’s about to end? Is this what it means to lose the bond? Is that why I feel this way, or is it because I know how much I love you?
Dread gripped my entire being as I seized the moment for one final kiss, pressing my lips against his. In response, he opened his mouth to let me in, allowing my tongue to explore his cavity until it met with his spongy muscle. For a little while, we played with one another, and when he drew away, I yanked him into another. This was one last moment I was desperately clinging to, leaving me feeling empty at the thought I wouldn’t feel it again.
Hah… What am I doing? Thea can tell Rem about me at any moment. This is going to end no matter what I do. I guess… I might as well make you hate me. So that way, you can try to love someone better than me.
Even though that was impossible, since love and hate were the same, which came with an easy line to cross.
Ah… but I don’t want you to hate me. I want to kiss you like this all the time, but… that’s a wish only a normal girl can do. This isn’t meant for someone like me, who is filled with death and despair. Nothing good awaits you if you stay with me.
This time, we both took a moment to catch our breath, as I pursed my lips before opening my mouth to finish this.
The end.
