Chapter 66: Goddess’s Tiresome Emotions
After popping out of the bathroom, I couldn’t help myself when I ran to my newly set up bed, while the voices of the two brothers echoed around. There wasn’t an ounce of me that wished to intervene in their conversation or make myself known. Though I was sure they knew I was out and in the room when I hid under the covers. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long until I floated off the bed, thanks to Oswald’s magic.
A second later, it yanked me off and towards the two brothers who were in the main room. Before I knew it, I was being gently set down on the floor, while I scowled at the two boys, not wanting to argue anymore. It took everything in me to put the lid down on my emotions in the bathroom, and the last thing I wanted was to open it up again. If Oswald were going to report me, then I would go for a contingency plan, which would lead to chaos, and Papa surely would get involved.
Silence filled the room while the ill-mannered twin gazed at me without uttering a word. Though it wasn’t long until Loki rolled his eyes, nudging him on the side of his arm, prompting Oz to growl at his brother before turning back to me. Emotion clashed in his face as I braced myself by snuggling into the covers that were yanked off the bed with me.
“I’m sorry for a lot of what I said. For now, I can accept a temporary truce between us.” He sighed, pouting slightly as his cheek was still red from the blow he had endured.
He was sincere, yet something about it didn’t make me feel any better. Well, at least the fiery head appeared to have calmed down enough to reason, but that probably was because of what Loki had said to him while I was in the shower, which I wasn’t privy to. Luckily, they seemed fine, which was a relief. I never wanted to strain their relationship, but I couldn’t just leave either. Not until the troublesome vampire was safe.
In response, I turned around with my covers still tightly wrapped around my tiny figure.
“I don’t accept your apology.” I huffed, trying to head back to my bed.
“What!?” the warlock blurted out, prompting my gaze to find him slightly as a vein almost popped in his forehead.
Snuggling myself into the warmth of the blankets, I couldn’t help but feel at ease, surrounded by the same scent Loki always used, which came from a body wash inside the bathroom.
This is something I can always have once everything is done. The brand shouldn’t be hard to find, which means I’ll always have a reminder of you, anywhere I go. Argh… This disease is getting worse, and I can’t stop it.
“There’s nothing for you to apologize for. So, I don’t accept it, Oswald.” I clarified, triggering him to appear as if he had fallen into bewilderment.
“Huh?” He mumbled, sitting back on the bed.
“Though if you hurt Emma, then you’ll have to do more than ask for forgiveness. Let her go if you aren’t serious.” I warned, trying not to allow myself to feel.
The warlock’s eyes narrowed when I said that.
“I…” He trailed off, biting his lip.
Turning back to my bed, I sighed before shaking my head slightly. “Oh, and don’t take me out of my bed again.” I huffed, walking back towards my comfort.
“Wait, we need to talk about the attack,” Oswald said as I shrugged, dropping onto the fluffy fabric.
“I already told you all I know. If you need anything else, wait until tomorrow. All this talking exhausted me.” I mumbled, knowing that if he didn’t hear me, Zephier would.
Slowly, I found my way to my pillow before snuggling into it again.
“Fine… Tomorrow, after the shitty day, we’ll speak again, and Vivian, I might be an arse, but won’t hurt her.” Oz gave in before going back to Loki, speaking briefly about tomorrow’s plans.
After that, he left for the night, allowing my vampire to go into the bathroom to freshen up. The entire time, even though I tried to fall asleep, I couldn’t. The thoughts from earlier bombarded my poor, brittle mind, leaving me vulnerable, especially without knowing how Loki would respond to everything. When Oz left with Zephyr, Eli found his way into my bed.
Feeling him slither on my back, cuddling the pillow, made me smile, ensuring me that my temporary lover wasn’t distancing himself like he should’ve. Instead of turning towards the snake, I clung to the pillow for a while before I heard the bathroom door open and close. Seconds later, I felt the bed sink under Loki’s weight, causing me to turn to him slightly. His blue, purplish eyes told me all I needed to know.
Why… do you look at me like that…
“Hey,” he murmured, tracing my cheek with his fingertips.
It’s too much.
A soft sigh left my lips, closing my eyes, “Loki, I don’t want to put a strain on your relationship with your brother. I’m sorry if—”
Instead of words leaving me, he clashed his lips against mine, an effective way of silencing me, since I couldn’t resist him. His thumb caressed my cheek when his tongue glided against my lips, triggering me to open my mouth, giving him access to roam it with ease. Our soft muscles tangoed with one another for a while, and he eased his way into the small bed made for one.
It wasn’t long until he was in the covers I was trying to keep for myself. With his summoner’s intrusion, Eli moved from my back to my front before pushing the pillow off my hands. Drawing away from our kiss, he licked his lips.
“Does anything hurt?” Loki tenderly caressed my cheek.
I instinctively gazed at my hand that stung from slapping Oswald earlier. I was so heated that I didn’t care how hard I went—a mistake since the warlock was still healing from his other head injury.
Is he alright?
“Just my hand. I don’t think I’ve ever hit anyone that hard before. Well, I guess the vampire girl who jumped you is up there, too.” I mumbled.
The vampire chuckled, picking up my aching limb into his hand. With his thumb, he softly caressed it, provoking me to wince, only to feel instant relief soon after.
Hah… You… You aren’t meant for me.
Words that would never leave me when his smile melted me right where I was. He had so much potential to do good in this world, yet everyone was out to get him, which was unacceptable.
You aren’t a force of destruction like me. No, you’re meant to do something good.
“Yeah, you hit a home run with both, especially with Oz. I think you made his headache worse.” Loki cackled before biting his lip.
Eh… wait… Why is this vampire with me in this bed?
