Chapter 62: Emma and Her Goddess
For a moment, the elusive witch gazed at me like she had done something wrong before sinking her head downward and avoiding my glance. It wasn’t long until Eli found me, as I felt him by my feet, which meant Loki was probably paying attention to this, too. Not that it mattered; it wasn’t like I was going to discuss something the vampire didn’t know.
“Vivian…” Emma trailed off, grabbing onto her arms.
I grabbed onto her hands as her body tensed up when I felt Eli slither up my leg.
Argh! So clingy! If these two break another pair of stockings, I’ll throw them both into the fire.
“I’m—” I began, only to clear my throat, stomping on the leg Eli was trying to climb to stop him.
“I’m fucking, Loki, and he found out about us.” I bluntly stated, causing Emma’s eyes to widen wider than I thought they could go.
The shock that washed over her was reassuring, since I knew this was insane already, to begin with.
“What?!” she blurted out loud enough to catch the workers’ eyes for a moment.
At that moment, she covered her mouth, gazing at me like I was crazy and she didn’t have to. I already knew I was insane for even saying that to her. Luckily, in public, people rarely cared what others said. Unless they were looking for it, and since it appeared we weren’t fighting, the prying eyes eventually went away.
“So, please stop trying to avoid me,” I breathed.
She shook her head to remove the shock, but before she could speak, I carried on.
“Oh… and there’s a traitor in the coven,” I informed, prompting her to blow again.
“What?!” Emma yelped again, but I wasn’t breaking out in laughter for it to be a joke.
She soon narrowed her eyes, nodding when I smiled politely at her, as she was one of the most loyal members of our coven. That much I knew since this wasn’t the first time we met, though I never let it influence me.
“Tell Zoe when you can,” I pulled away from her, but before I could get far, she grabbed onto my hand.
The sudden jerk caused me to gaze back at her as her expression changed so many times that she didn’t even know how to look anymore. However, the moment she started talking about the ill-tempered warlock, it changed again. The care in her eyes when she gazed at me was nice to see.
“Wait, Vivian, about Oswald, I…” She trailed off, biting her lip.
A soft sigh left my lips as I shook my head. It wasn’t my place to judge their relationship, much like if Loki ever found someone else to fuck I didn’t have a say in it either.
“Be happy, Emma, and be good to each other. Just don’t forget my link’s more than just flesh for pleasures.” I smiled, prompting her to nod before letting me go.
From there, I walked over to some brackets in the store, grabbing Eli from my leg.
“You’re so annoying. You know that?!” I grumbled at the little snake.
Part of me wanted to strangle him for being so noisy, but at the same time, he probably stuck to me because I was the one in most danger, even in public areas. I was taking precautions, which included drinking that nasty rose tea—a necessary evil. When I stepped outside, I noticed the overprotective vampire standing by the store’s doors while his twin and younger brother were by another one.
I couldn’t help but scowl at him, yet before a word left my mouth, Emma joined us.
“I don’t and won’t accept you for my idol!” she declared firmly, pointing at him before receiving a shock thanks to the ring around her finger.
My prince raised his eyebrows, facing her head-on. “Oh? And what will you do?” he urged her on.
She appeared to blow a fuse, throwing profanities at him before a sharper yelp left her from another jolt thanks to the jewel. The sudden commotion drew a lot of eyes to us as she appeared to get teary-eyed. That was when she turned to him again, standing her ground.
“If you hurt her, I’ll never forgive you.” Emma huffed, without an ounce of fear in her gaze.
It didn’t matter that she faced the deadliest vampire ever to walk; if he ever hurt me, she’d castrate him without a second thought. A silly thought since we weren’t serious about one another: we couldn’t be.
“Hm…” Loki hummed, leaning to her, whispering something in her ear.
I felt my hands squeeze Eli, who was in my hands. Seeing him get so close to another girl, even if it was Emma, made my heart sting.
Crap… How… will I…
In response, she scowled at him before taking a step away from him. “Still! I won’t forgive you if you hurt her! I owe her more than my life! Remember that!”
Huh? Owe me… But I never…
“Is this when I say don’t hurt Oz? Oh, wait, you can’t. If anything, he’ll ruin you if you aren’t careful, sweetheart. He isn’t like me.” Loki chided back, eyes shimmering.
Emma scowled at him before storming off towards the side where Zoe was gazing at a nearby flower stall. My vampire was a different person towards others, but his words rang loud in my ears. Oswald would ruin the witch who cared for me, and I would destroy this prince with my love, surely. I had to control everything, even though I usually lost myself every time we had sex, prompting my authentic self to shine through, and that didn’t scare him, which was worrisome.
After that brief confrontation, Emma continued to glare at the vampire as he appeared unbothered by her. However, he minded how she would stick to me like glue, preventing him from having unrestricted access to me. Zoe soon mimicked Emma, fearing the vampire had done something to me to make her act like that. By the end of the day, it didn’t matter; I would go into Loki’s room. When it came to saying goodbye for the night, Emma refused to leave me.
“I’ll be fine,” I assured her. “Plus, remember what we spoke about.”
“Argh… Okay, fine, but if he does anything you don’t like or hurts you, just tell me!” Hesitantly, she let me go before I headed inside the room with the prince, who shot her a snarky smirk when he closed the door.
After coming inside, though, it wasn’t a second later when he grabbed onto my hand, ensuring his heat radiated into me.
