Chapter 47: A Goddess’s Crumbles
Unable to keep up with the vampire who fearlessly approached me, I snapped, ripping the brooch from my dress and throwing it onto the floor. His eyes followed the piece of jewelry before dragging them back to me.
“Stop!” I snarled, triggering my body to glow brightly, prompting him to stop in his tracks as his eyes widened.
Yes... I’m not a normal girl. I’m dangerous—a monster. Realize it already!
“All I did for you was a lie! I… am an abomination, just like the woman who raised you said I was!” I continued my rant as the tears wouldn’t stop.
My voice appeared broken, too.
Why… did it hurt so much? Mortal feelings… This heart, I wish I could rip it out. How could a boy make me feel like this?! It has only been two weeks! Why do I care so much?
Nothing made sense anymore.
“I know, I don’t deserve to be on this earth, yet I don’t care! I’ll live because I want to, even if I’m loathed the entire time I’m breathing, even if I have to kill everything that stands in my way!” I shrieked, allowing an energy boom to erupt out of me as everything around us lit up.
My hair changed from black to golden as my body turned vibrantly white. Noticing the ring that should’ve shocked me long ago, I reached for it before throwing it at him with all my might, only for him to catch it with ease.
“That stupid thing will never work on me because I see you as less than trash! The only reason you aren’t dead right now after what we did...” I trailed off, clasping my chest, feeling throbs within it.
It hurts! Why is my voice too heavy?! Why?!
“The only reason is that I’ll die without you!” I snarled, causing Loki to sigh as he picked up the brooch from the floor before turning back to me.
“Are you done trying to look ferocious, Vivi?” He asked, without an ounce of malice in his eyes, leaving me baffled.
Eh? What? I’m sure I look like nothing like a normal human. Why… don’t I repulse you?
“W-What?” I mumbled, struggling to keep up with him.
Ah… that had to be an insult, right?!
“How dare you?! I’m a goddess!” I snapped before he suddenly closed the gap between us.
Wha—
That thought wouldn’t finish before he placed the brooch on my dress, essentially shutting off my powers. A second later, I was on his shoulder like a rag doll.
Eh?!
This mortal wasn’t normal, either. Something was wrong with his mind.
“Look. I can’t have you shining brighter than the fucking star here, Vivian. You’ll attract unwanted attention, even if I like your blond hair. So, let’s keep that behind closed doors, shall we?” Loki announced, leaving me unsure if I was still in reality or a dream..
Why do you do this to me?!
I felt myself snap again.
What the heck is up with this boy? Why is my chest squeezing for you even now? You have no respect or care for what I am!
Yet that allured me even more.
“Let me go or I’ll rip your limbs!” I demanded, hitting him from behind with my fist.
It barely caused him to care.
“Oh? Do it then.” Loki urged me as I froze.
“W-What?” I stuttered to say.
Loki chuckled, suddenly lifting me in the air like I was a plushie. “Rip my limbs from me. I’m not scared of you, sweetheart.”
I was so light in his hands.
Why...
“Are you out of your mind?!” I continued, trying to stay in character as he wore a gentle smile on his lips.
Oi… You aren’t okay in the head at all. There has to be brain damage somewhere.
“If only you could see through my eyes, Vivi.” Loki breathed, holding me up in the sky. “A goddess, you say. A monster? No, you’re nothing like that. Your voice betrays you. Your expression betrays you. Everything about you betrays your hateful words.”
Ah… You’re killing me. Nothing but poison!
I gazed at him like he had lost his mind because he had.
Did my blood cause some brain damage in you?
“Are you insane?!” I muttered, feeling every energy wane.
This vampire appeared immune to anything I threw at him. He shook his head, suddenly pulling me down with him onto the bench where I had left the food he brought for me. I found myself glued to his lap when he held me close to him, my arms against his chest, prying precious space between us.
Why? I showed you everything. My proper form has to be terrifying, right? Why do you have me on your lap like I’m some mortal girl?
“I think you’re nothing more than a terrified little girl thrown into a situation you had no control over.” He declared.
Huh? No! This has to be a trick to delay me and give Rem time to come and save you. Or maybe Oz… What is your brother doing anyway?! Surely you told him everything, why can’t I…
“You know nothing of me! Let me go!” I growled, losing the strength to fight him.
He held me in place with one hand, using the other to wipe the trail of tears on my cheeks with his thumb. It was so warm.
Unfair! You’re utterly unfair, Loki!
“You said everything was a lie? I doubt that Vivi. I heard the way you told those beasts not to touch me when you were terrified yesterday. You’re like a lioness protecting her mate.” He whispered as I grasped onto his shirt.
I’m not…
“And the way you kissed me when you fed me blood wasn’t fake. A lot of the things you said weren’t lies, but some were. I don’t know which is which right now.” He continued as I shook my head.
This boy…
My eyes twitched because of how foolish his words were. Before I knew it, I had raised my hand and sent it down harder than I had ever done. It ended up with a loud slap across his cheek as he appeared stunned by my action.
“Shut up! I’ll kill everyone you love if you keep going!” I huffed, feeling brittle.
A trail of blood dripped from the corner of his lip, prompting me to freeze. He hadn’t braced for it, allowing me to inflict the damage I wanted, much like the girl in the bathroom. A soft sigh left his lips as he licked them before facing me. There, I finally saw his eyes twitch in response to my aggression.
“Even though I’m the one with Lycan blood in me. You’re wilder than me or anyone I’ve ever seen.” Loki growled, grabbing me by the back of my head.
A second later, he crashed my lips onto his as my eyes flew open, not expecting it at all. When his tongue glided against my bottom lip, my mouth opened instinctively, allowing him further access. The same burning sensation rose within me once again as the taste of iron glazed my taste buds from the caress of his soft tongue.
It wasn’t like sensation ever left me, but the moment he touched me, it sent me into a frenzy. Our spongy muscles danced with one another as I was helpless to resist him. A chuckle left him when he drew away with this arrogant smirk.
Wiping the thin string of saliva still connected us from my lips, he murmured, “You won’t hurt a single fly when I’m done with you.”
I felt another snap happen within me, bringing me back to reality.
Eh?! You’re insane! You needed a new brain or something!
