Marvel: Odin Imprisoned Me with Hela

Chapter 109: The Inescapable Hammer Smash

"The Destroyer, guardian of Odin’s Vault, an unquenchable armor forged from Uru metal, is just gone like that?"

Sif lowered her head and wiped up a handful of sand. She discovered that there really were a few remnant particles of the Destroyer inside, but all the magical metal activity had already vanished from them.

"So that’s your new boss? Are you sure you’re protecting him, and not the other way around?"

Hawkeye Barton, who had hurried over from afar, saw the scene of Orion Cross making his move from inside the car. He glanced at Natasha in the passenger seat and asked.

"When did I ever say I went there to protect him?"

Natasha rolled her eyes.

"He just needs a slightly prettier tool person, that’s all."

"Fortunately, the benefits he gives are pretty good. Much better than Nick Fury’s."

Barton smiled bitterly and opened the car door. "You’re making me want to trade places with you. I haven’t had enough vacation lately, and I haven’t been able to go back and rest properly. You know what I mean."

The higher-level an agent was, the more indispensable they became. As a result, ever since his wife had gotten pregnant, he had only gone back once.

Although Barton said he wanted to trade missions with Natasha, he actually knew that was impossible. And even if they traded, it would be useless. During a mission, he could not risk being discovered by going to visit his family. Otherwise, if the location of his wife and children was exposed, enemies might use them as leverage.

"You have another mission after this one ends?"

Natasha also got out of the car, and the two walked toward Orion Cross, Coulson, and the others.

"Yeah."

Barton sighed and changed the subject. "Do you think those gods can reach your boss’s level?"

"I don’t think so. But I’m not sure either. That Thor has lost his divine power now, hasn’t he?"

Natasha answered uncertainly.

The moment her voice fell, they saw the God of Thunder they had been talking about holding a bucket of fried chicken in one hand, smiling like an idiot as he spread his arms toward Orion Cross.

"That was incredible! What was that move? Why did it feel a little like the Bifrost? Do you know, I once..."

"Thor!"

Sif interrupted Thor’s excitement and walked in front of him, looking at him seriously. "If Loki was able to send the Destroyer to Midgard, it means Heimdall has already met with misfortune. We may never be able to go back!"

"Then there’s nothing we can do, is there?"

Thor stiffly revealed a smile.

"That’s true... but we shouldn’t give up so easily. Perhaps there is still a chance."

The more Sif spoke, the quieter her voice became. Even she herself did not believe in that so-called chance. Leaving aside the fact that Thor had now lost all his divine power, even if he picked up Thor’s hammer again, without the Bifrost, they still could not go back at all.

"Stop talking about that. Things aren’t bad now either, are they?"

Thor smiled, raised a bottle, and took a gulp. Then he pulled out a phone S.H.I.E.L.D. had given him from his pocket, and suddenly frowned. "Orion, this person isn’t another powerful guy, is he?"

"What? Did you go provoke someone again?"

"It’s that person from earlier. The one who told me I’d better not make him angry, or next time he saw me, he might beat me to death."

Thor handed the phone to Orion Cross, letting him clearly see the chat history. He immediately sounded somewhat indignant. "Although I’ve lost my divine power, it’s not like just anyone can step on me, right?"

"I think he has quite a bit of fate with you."

Orion Cross opened that person’s social media profile and found a few simple photos inside. He immediately laughed. "Do you want to temporarily recover your divine power?"

"Temporarily recover? What do you mean?"

Thor asked with a confused expression. Likewise, Sif and the Warriors Three were also curious.

"If I’m guessing correctly, that hammer was placed under a spell, so ordinary people can’t lift it. But if some worthy hero needs to use it during a moment of crisis, they can also wield it."

Orion Cross vaguely remembered the setting of Thor’s hammer. In the Marvel and DC crossover comics, Superman had lifted Thor’s hammer at first, but later could not lift it again. That was because the "critical moment" had passed. Even someone worthy could not lift it after that. Naturally, the main world was very different from the comics, but this setting might have carried over.

"But I’m not worthy, am I?"

Thor smiled mockingly, then looked at his friends. "Sif, Fandral, do you want to try?"

Thor’s feelings right now were very strange, because the hammer was like a wife to him, even more important than a wife. Being unable to lift the hammer was like his wife ignoring him. Now, letting Sif and the others try lifting the hammer felt like actively inviting others to cuckold him.

"No. We are not worthy either."

Sif and the others rejected Thor’s suggestion without even thinking.

After all, Asgard was still a civilization ruled by a king. As subjects who had sworn loyalty to Asgard’s royal family, they could not possibly do such a thing.

"I’m not finished yet. Actually, the hammer also has a failsafe mechanism. When you are heavily injured and near death, no matter what, it will let you regain your divine power."

Orion Cross interrupted them and said this to Thor.

"Really?"

"Really."

Orion Cross nodded slightly. "But this will also create a problem. If you use such an unorthodox method to regain your divine power, you’ll only move farther and farther away from the original worthiness."

"How do we do it?"

Thor put down the bottle in his hand and looked at Orion Cross seriously.

He could ignore himself, but Sif and the Warriors Three, as well as Heimdall, whose life and death were unknown, were all his childhood friends and comrades. He could not abandon them.

"Do you remember the person you were chatting with earlier? I’ll send you to meet him. That should be about enough."

Orion Cross swiped his right hand through the air, and a portal slowly appeared beneath Thor’s feet.

"Ah!"

Thor fell through with a thud. However, the cry of pain was not his voice, but another person’s.

"Hulk!"

A beast-like roar came from the other side of the portal, followed by several violent smashing sounds.

Bang.

Thor, bruised, swollen, and covered in injuries, was thrown back with a few ice crystals clinging to him, crashing onto the ground. He clearly had more air leaving him than entering him.

"Thor!"

Seeing Thor heavily injured, even though the Asgardians had known Orion Cross’s goal in advance, they could not help panicking and began to worry.

Crackle.

A bolt of lightning flashed through the sky. Thor’s hammer descended from above and smashed directly onto Thor’s face.

The imagined thunderous storm and armor covering his body did not appear.

Thor’s hammer quietly pressed down on Thor’s face.

Everyone stared at this scene in dumbfounded silence. They vaguely seemed to see blood flowing from Thor’s nose.
