Marvel: God of Spotlight, The Homelander

Chapter 543 The Game Ends

Proxima Midnight made the first move, immediately displaying an overwhelming advantage in firepower at the start.

She raised her three-pronged spear with both arms, energy surging at the spearhead.

Dense, eerie blue energy blasts poured out like a rainstorm.

Steve remained calm and unruffled, quickly raising his Vibranium shield and holding it steadily in front of his chest.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The energy blasts, trailing dazzling flames, slammed continuously into the surface of the shield, erupting with blinding sparks.

Steve’s feet were planted on the rock as if they had taken root, steady as a mountain.

Seeing this, Proxima Midnight immediately increased her energy output.

The high-intensity energy impact caused the floating island beneath Steve to become overwhelmed.

The surface of the rock began to crack and crumble.

Steve decisively leaped into the air, jumping toward another floating rock island to the side.

Proxima Midnight let out a cold snort, the firepower of the spear in her hand undiminished, as light blasts followed closely, sweeping toward him.

Steve continuously moved between the crumbling floating islands, running, jumping, and rolling with fluid, effortless movements.

However, the gravitational field of each floating island was constantly changing.

Sometimes he needed to hang upside down on the bottom of the rock, and other times he had to sprint along the side following the gravity.

Proxima Midnight was clearly trying to use this overwhelming web of firepower to force him to exhaust his stamina.

However, Captain America, having injected the Super Soldier Serum and undergone a new round of enhancements at Vought, possessed physical fitness that was no longer what it once was.

The high-intensity, continuous evasive maneuvers did not show a hint of fatigue, and his breathing remained steady.

He even utilized the floating islands between the trajectories as cover to block attacks, waiting for an opportunity to counterattack.

"Is that all you’ve got?" In the gap between jumps, Steve keenly captured a flaw in Proxima Midnight’s web of firepower.

He did not hesitate, turning his body to leverage momentum, and released his Vibranium shield.

The shield whistled through the air, but it did not fly directly at the target; instead, it struck a narrow floating island, then ricocheted at a tricky angle, heading straight for the back of Proxima Midnight’s head.

Clang——!

Proxima Midnight reacted extremely quickly, and at the critical moment, she backhanded her spear to knock the shield away.

The next moment, after ricocheting several times, the shield miraculously flew back into Steve’s hand.

Tony Stark, watching from the staging platform, couldn’t help but complain: "Every time I see this, I feel like physics doesn’t exist."

The battle remained deadlocked as they traded blows.

Proxima Midnight’s expression grew increasingly ugly.

After narrowly avoiding being hit by this bizarre ricochet several times, she finally realized that the Earthling in front of her was not easy to deal with.

"Interesting." A cold light flashed in Proxima Midnight’s eyes, "But the game should end now."

Thus, she revealed her final trump card.

Proxima Midnight performed a few quick operations on the handle of her spear.

Then she stepped back half a step and threw the spear at Steve again.

But unlike last time, the surface of the spear this time was covered in a layer of jumping energy arcs, clearly to avoid repeating the same mistake.

Steve’s gaze was like a torch; he clearly saw the difference.

He calmly observed the spear’s flight trajectory, stepped to the side, and swung his shield in a horizontal strike.

"Bang——!"

A perfect shield parry; the spear was heavily swatted away, spinning off into the distance.

Just as Steve prepared to throw his shield to counterattack, the hairs on the back of his neck suddenly stood up, and a strong sense of crisis hit him.

He immediately curled up his body, using his shield to tightly protect his vital chest and abdomen.

Bang!

The next second, a violent impact sound exploded in his ears.

The spear that had clearly been swatted away suddenly turned back in mid-air, slamming into the surface of the shield again.

Not only was it faster and more powerful than the last time, but the spearhead also carried a terrifying energy impact.

The violent impact exploded in front of him.

Steve let out a muffled grunt; although the Vibranium shield absorbed most of the kinetic energy, the terrifying energy storm spread out in a ring shape.

Crack.

The floating island beneath his feet could not withstand this impact; it was instantly covered in cracks and then shattered with a roar.

Steve lost his footing.

He was forced to jump again, searching for a new floating island in the chaotic gravitational field.

But this was just the beginning.

Proxima Midnight stood in the distance, coldly watching all of this.

This was her killer move.

Once locked on by the spear, it was an endless pursuit.

It constantly turned back, accelerated, and thrust in the air.

Every time it was swatted away by Steve, it would return with an even more violent posture.

Steve fell into a passive, bitter struggle.

He could only block the relentless pursuit with his shield while desperately jumping and fleeing between different floating islands.

Danger was everywhere.

There were gravitational vortices everywhere in the void; a few times he clearly spotted a landing spot, but was pulled by the chaotic gravity, lost his balance, and nearly fell into the bottomless abyss.

"Run, Earthling! Like a rat!" Proxima Midnight stood on a high floating island, mocking him from above.

"This is the price of your foolish actions! You gave up the only chance you had to kill me, and now you can only face endless fleeing until your legs go weak and your lungs burst!"

She watched Steve’s disheveled figure dodging, the smile at the corner of her mouth growing wider.

"You won’t be able to dodge many more times, human! Why not kneel and surrender now? I might show mercy and let you die quickly!"

Bang!

Steve used his shield to take another hard impact.

Leveraging the reaction force, he rolled in mid-air and landed steadily on another floating island.

He stood straight, staring directly at Proxima Midnight.

There was no fear in his eyes, only a will as firm as a rock.

"I can do this all day!"

The gamblers of the Universe in the stands were stunned for a moment, then burst into a roar of laughter.

"Is this Earthling crazy?"

"What kind of big talk is he spouting? He clearly has almost nowhere left to land!"

"Kill him! Proxima Midnight! Tear that idiot with the shield to pieces!"

Meanwhile, in the Earth’s live broadcast room, the atmosphere was completely different.

"It’s here! The Captain’s classic line!"

"Tears! As long as this sentence comes out, the Captain will absolutely not fall!"

"Wait for death, alien freak! You have no idea what kind of will you are facing!"

Of course, a few negative comments were mixed in, but they were instantly drowned out by the verbal attacks of the vast majority of netizens.

Back to the field.

Steve’s situation was indeed extremely dire.

Just as Proxima Midnight said, with the spear’s repeated bombardments, the floating islands in the arena were becoming fewer and fewer.

Steve retreated to a relatively wide floating island at the edge of the field, appearing to have been forced into a dead end.

Because all around him, except for some gravel the size of fingernails, there were no landing points left to jump to.

The path forward was cut off, and behind him was the bottomless void.

Seeing this, Proxima Midnight smiled grimly.

"The game is over, Earthling warrior!"
