Chapter 254
Director Liu scoffed, "How the hell could it be comfortable getting groped by your wandering hands? As for being... *done*, I’d be too busy feeling awkward. How could there possibly be any pleasure in that?"
Chenyang raised an eyebrow. "You’re a department director, for crying out loud. Why does it feel like you know less about this topic than a middle school student?"
"How am I any worse than those students?"
"Young couples on campus can share a kiss and feel blissful for ages. But when it comes to you, a few touches are suddenly uncomfortable?
If it’s really like you say, why would people in love be like dry wood to a flame? Why would married couples be so lovey-dovey?"
"Well..." Director Liu was at a loss for words. "Dating is just about the novelty. Marriage is just about fulfilling the responsibility of carrying on the family line."
Chenyang cupped his chin. "Director Liu, forgive me for being forward, but... do you have a sex life?"
Director Liu’s pretty face flushed beet red. "No! People with a sufficiently strong inner world have no need for sex!"
"Uh..." Chenyang was taken aback. "Then there’s no way for us to debate this topic. I’m talking about the thoughts of normal, ordinary people. You, on the other hand, have the mindset of an ethereal goddess, completely detached from worldly desires."
Director Liu furrowed her brow. "Are you trying to say I’m impervious to reason?"
"Haha, I would never say that."
"But that’s what you meant." Director Liu changed her tune. "As it happens, I have nothing to do right now, and you don’t seem to have any duties at the moment. So let’s sit right here and hash this out.
You can tell me. Kissing, is it really that great? Touching, is it really that comfortable? And doing... *that*... can a woman really find pleasure in it?"
Chenyang shook his head, sat down in a nearby chair, and pulled out his phone. He started scrolling through videos and muttered, "I can’t debate this topic with you."
"Why not?"
"Kissing, touching, making love—you have to experience these things firsthand to appreciate them. Right now, your subconscious is telling you those things are unpleasant and uncomfortable. So even if I described them in the most beautiful, flowery language, you’d still stubbornly believe they’re bad."
"So I have to experience it myself?"
"Exactly. It’s like you diagnosing patients as a cardiologist. If you just sat there without taking a pulse or running any tests with your instruments, could you diagnose their specific illness based solely on their description of the symptoms?"
"I couldn’t be certain, but I could get a general idea. After all, different symptoms correspond to different diseases. When you have enough experience, things like scans and taking a pulse are just for confirmation and supplementary evidence."
"And where does that experience come from?"
"From..."
Director Liu trailed off, suddenly at a loss for words.
’Where does experience come from?’
’It comes from seeing patients time and time again, from comparing different symptoms during examinations, and from analyzing the scans provided by the instruments.’
’And in the process of accumulating that experience, the instruments, the pulse-taking, all those medical procedures... they were the equivalent of firsthand experience.’
Seeing the embarrassed look on Director Liu’s face, Chenyang smiled. "Habit can be a powerful thing. When your perceptions become warped by your own incorrect habits, you naturally start to see everything incorrectly. The best way to change that habit is to test it yourself—to use real-world action to prove you were wrong."
"You have a point."
Director Liu nodded, got Chenyang a cup of coffee from nearby, and after handing it to him, sat down beside him.
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
"Not yet."
"Then kiss me, so I can experience it firsthand."
PFFT!
COUGH! COUGH! COUGH!
Chenyang had just taken a sip of coffee.
Before he could even swallow, her completely unexpected words made him choke and cough violently.
"It’s just a kiss. Do you have to be so dramatic?"
Director Liu quickly grabbed some tissues and handed them to him.
Chenyang wiped the coffee from the corner of his mouth and his pants, his face contorted. "My dearest Director, for you, is something like a kiss really ’just’ a kiss?"
"What else would it be? It’s just a kiss. In other countries, strangers even kiss when they meet."
"You said it yourself, that’s in *other* countries."
"People in our country didn’t used to do such intimate things, but this is the 21st century. A kiss isn’t going to get me pregnant. I don’t think it’s such a big deal, do you?"
Chenyang looked up, his gaze drifting to the faint outline of her chest visible beneath her collar. "If a kiss is no big deal, then what about a little touching? What about making love? Are those not a big deal either?"
