My Succubus Harem System In The Reverse World

Chapter 121: A Mission to Keep You by My Side

My body had clearly changed.

Sleep wouldn’t come even after the exhausting training.

Jenna lay close enough that her breath touched my shoulder, the sheet low, the city a distant hum beyond the glass.

I didn’t know whether what she poured over me was maternal instinct, handler calculation, or simple use of a useful anomaly, and the honest part of me didn’t care as much as it should have.

"You’re overthinking again."

She said it with her eyes still closed.

"You can read minds too?"

"I can read you."

That was the thing about Jenna.

Stranger or not, she opened me like a book she’d already skimmed.

"How are you feeling?" I asked.

She opened her eyes slowly.

"About what?"

"About tonight."

"The control was within reach. You did well. I was satisfied with the results."

"No. Not the work kind."

I held her gaze in the dark.

"What do you feel about me?"

"What’s that supposed to mean, Revien?"

"See? Why is it that I’m the only one who worries about hurting people whenever I get close?"

Jenna looked at me for a long second. Her finger lifted and traced the line of my face, slow, almost absent.

"Because you have a power none of us have. And your power can potentially expand ours. It’s scary simply because it’s powerful, and because you’re putting up with a responsibility most people would refuse."

She was good at small speeches like that. Clean. Unsentimental. True enough to land, but her tone always implied care.

A date surfaced in my mind without permission.

Her death.

Maybe in another branch, or two years from now if I failed, Jenna Everheart would die.

Worst of all, she might die in a way that saved her daughter or saved me. The system had spoken it once like weather. The thought put a strange weight in my chest.

If I had been dropped into this world to keep it from ending, then starting with Jenna wasn’t optional.

She was the one who had pulled me out of a holding facility and given me a door instead of a cage.

I had not yet met the strongest awakeners, the wasteland lords, or an Empress face to face. I had not yet earned the right to talk like a savior.

But I could at least try to lift the constant worry she carried for Gianna.

Not because I was certain I could rewrite every ending, but because I owed her that much effort.

Jenna was like a parental figure.

Our intimacy said something else.

The world, as it was built, needed both truths at once.

I leaned in and pressed a small kiss to her lips.

"I don’t have to fulfill that responsibility, do I?"

"No."

Her answer was immediate.

"There’s no need for that. You can do whatever you want. That’s what your power offers you once it becomes public."

"But I will still do what’s necessary."

She read my face the way she always did.

"I know. Because it’s you. You always put others in front of you."

"You don’t have to worry."

I kept my voice even.

"I put others first because I can handle standing behind. Sadly, I can’t give all my love to one woman, but I will never make any of them feel alone or use them like tools."

Jenna laughed once, quietly.

"Big words for a young man."

"What do you think love is?"

"Love is complicated. And subjective."

"Do you think one person could love many people?"

"It depends. Was the person capable of loving many people in the same way?"

"I don’t know."

"Then you don’t need to figure it out today. That’s a big decision."

"Big mission too."

"Mission?"

I didn’t tell her about the dungeon collapse. Not yet. Not as a prophecy she would have to carry on top of guild politics and a daughter’s name on a provisional form.

"Mission to keep you and your daughter by my side all my life."

Jenna didn’t call it naive. She didn’t call it a contract. She only watched me until the intensity in the air eased, then closed her eyes again.

"Sleep, Revien."

We slept after that, or she did. I drifted in and out with the bracelet cool against the sheet and the class quiet under a ceiling that had moved.

Morning brought the status window before I asked for it.

Name: Revien

Class: Succubus

Level: 27

Base Attributes

Strength: 70

Agility: 60

Vitality: 47

Mana: 108

Perception: 55

Charm: 104

Only two levels from the overnight work, and a hard jump in strength alone.

The reconstruction had already rewritten height and density once. This felt like the frame catching up to what the class intended to carry.

I dressed, ate, and went to the private hall with a clearer head than the day before.

Overlapping-presence day.

Gianna was already on the mat in a dark tank, hair tied back, expression locked to work.

Rei stretched along the wall, single braid, eyes bright with the patience of someone who had come to test reduced bandwidth, whether she liked the phrase or not.

Jenna’s observation tier was live this time, a strip of light above the glass.

I stepped onto the mat and didn’t waste the opening on history.

"Sequence," I said.

"Primary rhythm first. Thirty to forty seconds, Gianna only on the line. Then Rei at tracking bandwidth, not full motor link. If the node conflicts, I drop Rei first. Primary priority isn’t a slogan today."

Rei’s mouth tilted.

"You rehearsed."

"I was given homework."

Gianna’s gaze flicked to my face, then to the scratches fading on my arm, then away.

"Mark when you’re ready. Not when you’re performing for the glass."

"Mark."

I formed a single chain.

Gianna took it.

The connection seated clean, anchor weight, deliberate, no dual static.

[Pair link: Gianna Everheart]

[Mode: Movement sync]

[Secondary: Standby]

We ran the rhythm. Advance, cover, switch, recover. Telekinetic taps answered by named corrections. No Fracture Step unless required. No reach left unspoken.

"Left bias," I said once.

"Fixed," she answered, and it was.

Twenty seconds.

Thirty.

The pattern held in the body.

At forty, I didn’t drag the solo link past usefulness.

"Tracking line," I called to Rei.

"Not motor. You ride position and threat angles only until I open the second stage."

Rei stepped in and closed her fingers on a thinner ethereal thread. The secondary feed arrived as awareness, not steering; her sightline layered at the edge of mine without her instincts driving my feet.

[Secondary link: Rei Lawless — Tracking bandwidth]

[Dual conflict risk: Reduced]

[Hold]

"Move."
