My Succubus Harem System In The Reverse World

Chapter 73: Shutting Off My Slutty Pheromone Aura to Hear Her Truth

The day continued as we bought a handful of useless souvenirs, small holographic trinkets, a pair of cheap adaptive pins, something that claimed to be a fragment of pre-Change metal and almost certainly wasn’t.

Then we had lunch at one of the biggest hotels I had ever seen, the kind of place where the staff didn’t ask questions as long as the payment cleared.

We kissed a few more times in quiet corners and once against a maintenance wall when the concourse emptied for a moment.

All the way through it, Gianna never left my side.

That fact sat heavier in my chest than any of the kisses.

She stayed close enough to explain things in a low voice as we walked: why the guilds had formed the way they did after the Change, why most women defaulted to looking down on men even when they needed them, why Rei Lawless treated power the way a starving person treated food.

I listened to all of it.

When she finished speaking, I simply pulled her against my chest and held her there for a few seconds while the neon moved around us.

She didn’t push away.

As dusk settled over the city, we returned to the hovercar and climbed in.

The Sky-Pod Drive-In Theater hung suspended between two massive skyscrapers, a lattice of private, heavily insulated pods overlooking the neon skyline.

I had expected something on the ground. Instead, the entire complex floated, tethered by energy anchors and shielded against external scanning networks.

We entered the assigned pod in the car.

Other vehicles drifted into neighboring berths, some with two women and one man, some with two men and one woman.

Money and influence talked here. The pod sealed around us with a hydraulic sigh. An archaic, retro-themed film began looping on the dashboard screen, audio feeding directly into the car’s system.

It was a recreation of the world before the Change: old cities, old clothes, old ways of moving through life that no longer existed.

It was seven at night.

My cooldown period was almost over.

Gianna glanced at me.

"Your long-awaited date starts," she said.

I nodded. The cabin had cooled. I deliberately shut down the Pheromone Trace.

The subtle comforting haze faded within a minute.

Without it, the air felt ordinary again, recycled, clean, a little too still.

The film continued.

After a while, I realized how poor a choice it had been.

These weren’t good movies.

They were pale reconstructions, academic attempts to show what the world had looked like before everything broke and rewrote itself.

And all of it was wrong.

The dialogue felt stiff.

The faces on the screen belonged to a time that had nothing to do with either of us.

Gianna turned her head. Her voice dropped to a whisper.

"It’s boring, right?"

"Yes. Very."

She studied my face in the low light coming off the screen.

"...Come close."

I didn’t ask why. I shifted across the seat until my shoulder touched hers.

The pod was private, the external dampeners active, the city spread out below us in rivers of light.

For a moment neither of us spoke.

Then Gianna reached up and turned my face toward hers with two fingers.

"I’ve been thinking about what I said yesterday," she murmured.

"About being scared of losing myself. About the version of me that doesn’t need anyone."

"I remember."

"I still mean it."

Her thumb rested against the corner of my mouth.

"But sitting here with you, watching this useless film, I keep coming back to the other part. The part where I said I want you. That part hasn’t gotten smaller. It’s gotten louder."

I covered her hand with mine and kept it there.

"I don’t have clean answers either," I said.

"My class is built to make people need me. It’s built to make me need them back. Some days I can’t tell which feelings are mine and which ones the system is amplifying. But when I’m with you the noise gets quieter. That’s real. I know it is."

Gianna’s eyes searched mine.

"Show me."

I leaned in and kissed her.

There was no performance in it this time. No public claim, no anger from training mats or leftover jealousy from simulation footage.

Just the slow press of mouths in a sealed pod high above the city.

She opened for me without hesitation.

One of her hands slid into my hair. The other settled against my chest, palm flat over the place where her own energy still anchored near my core.

The kiss deepened by degrees.

I felt the exact moment her breathing changed, the way her fingers tightened when I angled my head and took more.

My own control frayed at the edges.

I kept the output locked down anyway, no spikes, no transfers, nothing that would trip the monitoring patch still sitting under my collarbone.

When we finally broke apart, both of us were breathing harder.

Gianna rested her forehead against mine.

"I don’t want to talk about guilds or politics or what happens next week," she said quietly.

"Not right now. I just want to feel you here."

"I’m here."

She kissed me again, slower, almost careful, as if testing how much of the need she could let surface without it turning into something neither of us could stop.

My hands found her waist under the crop top, skin warm and smooth.

She made a small sound into my mouth when my thumbs brushed the skin just above her hips. The sound went straight through me.

"Gia...."

"Don’t ask if I’m sure." Her voice was rough.

"I’ve been sure since you pulled me into that training room and told me none of it was fake. I just didn’t know how to carry it."

I kissed the corner of her mouth, then the line of her jaw, then the place just under her ear that made her breath hitch.

"I want you," I said against her skin.

"Just You. The version that gets jealous and the version that holds back and the version that just admitted she’s scared. All of it."
