Chapter 140: Distance
However, he stopped about four meters from the hall, his gloomy eyes filled with a terrifying killing intent.
He saw a slender young man sitting upright on a sofa at the front of the hall. A faint smile played on the young man's lips as he watched him with keen interest, as if he had known all along that he would be coming.
At that moment, Lin Feng sat there on the sofa, perfectly still.
'Damn it, he found me after all!'
Wu San cursed under his breath, seething with resentment.
He hadn't expected Lin Feng to be able to detect him. But since he was already discovered, there was no longer any need to hide.
Wu San's eyes locked onto Lin Feng. Then, with a light tap of his foot, he shot forward like a cannonball.
SWOOSH!
With a sudden flick of his wrist, the two daggers in Wu San's hands flew from his grasp.
The daggers transformed into a flurry of cold light in mid-air, blanketing Lin Feng from all sides. Yet Lin Feng remained perfectly still. Only at the last possible moment did he draw his Short Blade to meet the attack!
CLANG! CLANG!
A series of crisp clashes rang in Wu San's ears. His pupils constricted. Just as the flurry of cold light was about to strike Lin Feng, it was completely intercepted by Lin Feng's weapon, which had moved later but struck first.
"Impossible!"
Seeing this, Wu San's pupils contracted violently, his face a mask of pure horror. He couldn't believe what he was seeing!
"Your reflexes... How can you be so fast!"
Wu San swallowed hard, looking at the relaxed Lin Feng as he asked in a trembling voice. Only now did he finally grasp the true extent of Lin Feng's power.
SWOOSH!
Lin Feng, however, simply waved his Short Blade. In an instant, the flurry of cold light shattered, turning into countless tiny fragments that flew in every direction.
Wu San's pupils shrank even more at the sight!
WHOOSH!
Just then, Lin Feng's figure abruptly appeared at his side. The Short Blade traced a beautiful arc, its ice-cold, sharp gleam dazzling under the moonlight!
SLICE!
Wu San had no room to dodge. He heard the sound of tearing flesh, followed by a piercing pain in his chest.
Like a phantom, Lin Feng gracefully retreated a few steps.
COUGH!
Wu San clutched his profusely bleeding wound and staggered backward. He only managed to steady himself after retreating a good two or three meters.
His gaze toward Lin Feng was filled with shock and venom.
He had been so careful in his approach, and had even attacked with all his might, yet he hadn't managed to harm Lin Feng in the slightest.
But Lin Feng? He had ended the fight with a single, casual move. The immense gap in their strength made him furious!
Lin Feng looked down on Wu San, his gaze cold and indifferent. "Your reflexes aren't bad. But unfortunately for you, you ran into me. Your fate was sealed."
The moment the words left his mouth, his figure blurred. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of Wu San, his Short Blade flashing with cold light.
'No, I have to fight back, or I'll die even faster!'
His pupils filled with grim resolve, and a rage born from overwhelming fear. Wu San gritted his teeth, bracing himself and gathering all his strength into his left arm.
He didn't dare to hesitate; he knew he had no way to dodge Lin Feng's assault and could only rely on his own defense and speed to resist.
Wielding his daggers, Wu San traced a series of arcs in front of him. His blades danced as if they were alive, managing to block all of Lin Feng's attacks.
CLANG!
Sparks flew from the clash of their weapons, exceptionally bright under the moonlight, but Wu San was forced to retreat continuously.
Although his daggers could parry Lin Feng's strikes, they couldn't stop the relentless assault. After just a few seconds, a cut opened on his left arm. Bright red blood trickled down and dripped onto the floor.
'Damn it, he's so fast!'
Scrambling back a few steps, a crazed determination flashed in Wu San's eyes. He knew it was time to fight for his life. He gritted his teeth as a potent killing intent erupted from him once more.
FWOOSH!
With a wave of his long sleeves, a wind swirled around Wu San. A grim, murderous aura spread out, and the surrounding temperature even seemed to drop a few degrees.
"HYAAAH!"
With a furious roar, Wu San pushed off with his legs and vanished. When he reappeared, he was already in front of Lin Feng.
SWISH!
Twisting his body, Wu San swept his daggers toward Lin Feng, generating a fierce wind. A bone-chilling killing intent washed over Lin Feng, threatening to engulf him completely.
"Heh."
Seeing Wu San actually take the initiative to close in, a cold sneer touched Lin Feng's lips.
With a flick of his wrist, Lin Feng's Short Blade transformed into a silver dragon. It carried an incomparably sharp gleam as it slashed straight for Wu San's waist. The sheer sharpness of the attack made Wu San shiver involuntarily.
The courage he had just mustered vanished. He hastily pulled back his attack and retreated, narrowly avoiding Lin Feng's strike. The piercing gleam of the blade scraped past him, leaving several shallow cuts on his clothes.
Wu San patted his chest, his heart still pounding with fear. He looked at Lin Feng, his face a mixture of dread and terror. 'The man is simply too terrifying.'
'Besides, Lin Feng's strength far surpasses mine. Even if we all ganged up on him, we might not be a match for him.'
'Damn it, how could I possibly be his opponent? But that's fine... as long as I can stall for time, it'll be enough!'
Wu San took a deep breath, suppressing the humiliation in his heart. Without another word, he turned and fled.
"Trying to run? It's not that simple."
At these words, a mocking smile touched Lin Feng's lips. He watched Wu San and said tauntingly, then flicked his hand. A small stone shot out from between his fingers and, with lightning speed, struck Wu San squarely on the forehead.
THUD!
Following the dull thud, Wu San's eyes went wide. His body snapped backward, and he crashed to the ground.
Lin Feng strolled leisurely over to him. Looking down at Wu San, he said, "Still want to run?"
"You..." Ptuh!
Wu San opened his mouth to say something, but before he could get a word out, he coughed up a large mouthful of fresh blood. His face was pale, his forehead beaded with sweat.
After the stone hit his head, he felt the world spin and his vision went black before he passed out.
But seeing Wu San lying unconscious, Lin Feng didn't let his guard down. After all, he knew this man was no simple foe.
