Chapter 79: Done For
He knew he was completely finished this time. Not only had the mission failed, but he was about to lose his life. This Lin Feng was simply terrifying.
THWACK, THWACK...
SPURT!
Lin Feng weaved through them, attacking relentlessly. The men from the Black Tiger Gang couldn't even touch his shadow as they were struck down one by one. He moved like a phantom, leaving a trail of Black Tiger Gang members writhing and groaning in agony on the ground.
Lin Feng held back from dealing killing blows, knowing these were just ordinary assassins from the Black Tiger Gang—hired hands merely doing a job.
In an attack like this, they were only the executors, not the masterminds. But since they had gotten involved, they still had to die.
Lin Feng's movements grew faster and faster, a blur of afterimages. Even the assassins couldn't keep up with his actions and were knocked down one after another.
"This isn't right... This kid is too strong! He's no ordinary Innate Martial Artist!"
As he slowly climbed to his feet, the sliver of fear in Chen Long's heart amplified endlessly. He had completely lost the will to fight. Lin Feng's strength was too great—it was absurd.
Even after using every trick up his sleeve, he couldn't get anywhere near Lin Feng. Instead, he was the one getting beaten black and blue, with Lin Feng relentlessly opening up new wounds on his body.
CRACK!
Lin Feng stomped hard on the ground, launching himself into the air. A side kick, carrying a frigid gale, shot straight for Chen Long's head, its fierce aura chilling the heart.
THUD!
Chen Long hastily raised his arms to block, but in that same instant, his right arm was twisted out of shape, left to dangle uselessly. The searing pain made Chen Long grimace.
Lin Feng's kick landed squarely on Chen Long's chest, sending him flying seven or eight meters. After rolling a few times on the ground, he lay there coughing incessantly, a fiery, stabbing pain burning in his chest.
CRUNCH!
Lin Feng showed no mercy. This man had tried to kill him, so he would not hold back.
With one stomp, he shattered the ground beneath Chen Long and crushed both his legs. With a second, he snapped his neck. Chen Long's bloodshot eyes stared wide for a moment before the life drained out of them completely.
"Hah... another one down."
Slowly letting out a breath, a flicker of exhaustion showed in Lin Feng's eyes.
After all, even for someone as powerful as him, fighting three Innate Martial Artists of the same level to the death back-to-back was bound to be exhausting.
But he knew tonight's business wasn't over. Besides, there was still something here that had piqued his interest.
His gaze fell upon the strange Short Blade on the ground, gleaming in the moonlight. The corners of his lips curved into a cold, bloodthirsty smile.
Lin Feng bent down and picked up one of the Short Blades. Looking at the two other men on the ground, his lips twisted into a cold smirk.
"Y-you, what are you going to do..."
one of the assassins stammered, his body trembling. He was scared witless.
SWISH!
The words had barely left his mouth when Lin Feng's figure vanished, reappearing in front of him in the next instant. A cold light flashed, and an arc of blood sprayed from the assassin's throat.
Lin Feng's movements were simply too fast. Combined with the sharpness of the low-grade, Yellow-rank Short Blade, by the time the assassin clutched at his throat, his blood had already stained the ground. His eyes slowly dimmed and went vacant as he collapsed.
The last remaining assassin was completely frozen in shock. He never would have imagined that this seemingly thin and frail young man possessed such terrifying strength.
"You, who on earth are you? Could you be from a Hidden Clan?"
the assassin asked, thoroughly astonished. He had heard that reclusive masters possessed extraordinary physiques and power, and that they trained in special Cultivation Techniques, which explained their immense offensive strength.
Seeing the speed this young man had just displayed, he guessed Lin Feng had to be the heir of some Hidden Clan. Otherwise, possessing such incredible power and agility would be impossible.
"Heh, you guessed wrong. I'm just an ordinary person."
Lin Feng said with a slight smile, then began walking toward the assassin, one step at a time.
As he approached step by step, the surrounding air seemed to freeze, becoming oppressively suffocating.
A storm of terror raged in the assassin's heart. He had never felt so close to death. Now he finally understood why their leader had died at his hands—they weren't even in the same league.
"Don't kill me! I'm begging you, spare me! I can give you a lot of money, a lot!"
The assassin scrambled to his knees, kowtowing and begging for his life. His legs were trembling violently. He was truly terrified now, his only hope to somehow survive.
"I'm not someone who can be bought with money, and besides, money is the one thing I'm not short on."
Lin Feng said with a smile as he looked down at the assassin. He was long used to situations like this. If someone wanted to harm him or take his life, he would eradicate them without hesitation, root and stem.
He had seen this sort of thing far too many times. Countless people lost their lives over such matters every day.
Lin Feng slowly walked up to the assassin, then crouched in front of him and said softly, "The truth is, since you're part of an assassin organization, you don't deserve to live in this world."
"AHH!"
A bloodcurdling scream rang out as Lin Feng severed the assassin's neck in an instant. He then slowly stood up, feeling a bit of his vitality return.
Though his body still felt weak, he was much better off than before. His true target was the so-called "young master"; these assassins were merely collateral.
Looking at the wide-open doors of the villa before him, Lin Feng took a deep breath and stepped inside.
Killing intent radiated from his eyes. He looked up and saw two men sitting by a window on the second floor. One, dressed in a white shirt, had the air of a refined, scholarly young master. The other wore a gray, long-sleeved robe and had a chiseled face with piercing eyes.
They were staring down at Lin Feng, their eyes filled with utter shock. They couldn't believe it. After all the men they had arranged, Lin Feng had still managed to slaughter his way here, all by himself with a single blade?!
Worse, Lin Feng's expression was perfectly calm, showing no signs of panic. It was clear he had come prepared.
These two were the young master of this mountain villa, Shu Yuhang, and a so-called "strategist"—or rather, an envoy from the Black Tiger Gang's headquarters—Shen Yunpeng. Shu Yuhang had sent men to assassinate Lin Feng before, but the entire force had been annihilated.
