The Capital's Dragon Doctor

Chapter 74: Drop

"CLANG!"

A crisp sound rang out as Zhang Heng's longsword clattered to the ground. He himself was left kneeling pathetically on the floor.

He stared at his hands, his face a mask of horror. He found that they were trembling, and the web between his thumb and index finger ached dully. A sense of powerlessness washed over him.

The gap between them was just too vast. At his current level, he was no match for Lin Feng at all.

He was also baffled. What was Lin Feng's true realm? He was clearly an Innate Martial Artist, yet the power he unleashed far surpassed that level. He now suspected Lin Feng was hiding his true cultivation.

"Heh, have you had enough?"

Lin Feng asked, looking down at Zhang Heng, who was sprawled on the ground.

"Enough? Enough my ass!"

Zhang Heng gritted his teeth in hatred. He'd never suffered such humiliation in his life. He rolled forward and snatched his longsword back up.

His eyes filled with killing intent, Zhang Heng flipped to his feet and then lunged toward Lin Feng.

But his movements were much slower now, and Lin Feng easily dodged his attack.

Lin Feng then casually scooped up a rock and hurled it at Zhang Heng. The throw was packed with skill and power; if that stone hit, it would pierce right through a steel plate, let alone Zhang Heng's body!

Zhang Heng scrambled to dodge to the side.

Lin Feng seized the opportunity to close the distance, landing a vicious uppercut on Zhang Heng's jaw.

"CRACK!"

The sound of his jawbone breaking echoed as a stream of crimson blood gushed from Zhang Heng's mouth. His face twisted in agony, and his body swayed back a few steps before he collapsed onto his butt on the ground.

"Captain Zhang!"

Seeing Zhang Heng fall, the remaining members of the Black Tiger Gang rushed over to help him up.

"What are you all standing around for? Swarm him! Kill him, or we're all going to die!"

Zhang Heng clutched his jaw, his venomous eyes locked on Lin Feng as if he wanted to eat him alive.

Hearing Zhang Heng's command, the Black Tiger Gang members hesitated, but one vicious glare from him was enough. They cast aside their fears and charged at Lin Feng.

They clung to a sliver of hope: that they could overwhelm Lin Feng with sheer numbers!

"Hmph."

Lin Feng snorted coldly and strode into the crowd.

To him, these ordinary men were a waste of his time. They weren't even enough to make him break a sweat.

In an instant, the Black Tiger Gang members were caught in a desperate struggle.

Lin Feng, meanwhile, used the chaos to approach one of the henchmen. With a flick of his wrist, he snatched a longsword from the man's grasp.

After all, he had fought his way from the foot of the mountain to the summit, and being unarmed was admittedly a bit of a hassle.

It was only an ordinary machete, but it was better than nothing.

"SWISH!"

A cold light flashed. Lin Feng's machete had already cut down several members of the Black Tiger Gang. Blood sprayed onto his body, but his eyes remained unnervingly cold.

Watching from the side, Zhang Heng was utterly horrified. 'When Lin Feng was unarmed, he almost overwhelmed me,' he thought. 'Now that he has a weapon, how long can I possibly last against him?'

What shocked Zhang Heng even more was that Lin Feng showed no signs of fatigue. On the contrary, his aura was growing stronger and stronger, and the oppressive feeling was becoming so intense that Zhang Heng could barely breathe.

Lin Feng was incredibly fast. In an instant, he killed another five or six members of the Black Tiger Gang. Then, he raised his arm again and brought the blade down, cutting down the last man. The entire sequence was as smooth as flowing water, without a single wasted motion. The remaining members of the Black Tiger Gang were all frozen in a stupor.

Expressionless, Lin Feng walked over to the terrified Zhang Heng. Without a word, he grabbed him by the collar and, with a sudden burst of strength, hauled him to his feet.

"I know you're not resigned to this. So, I'll give you a chance for a fair duel!"

Lin Feng's indifferent voice rang in Zhang Heng's ear, making him tremble.

After speaking, Lin Feng threw him to the ground. Zhang Heng struggled to his feet, but after just two steps, his calf cramped up, and he nearly fell again.

He stared at the man before him, his eyes bloodshot. He never imagined Lin Feng would fight him to the death in this manner.

Zhang Heng knew he had lost tonight, utterly and completely.

"I surrender. Let me go, or you'll never see your wife and child again."

Zhang Heng said in a low voice. He had been thoroughly beaten into submission by Lin Feng and didn't dare to gamble. If he truly angered Lin Feng, he would be killed for real. So, he chose to compromise.

"You think I'd let a tiger return to the mountains?"

Lin Feng laughed at his words, his eyes full of mockery. 'How could I possibly let someone like Zhang Heng go?' he thought. 'Keeping him alive would only cause trouble later. He's just a piece of trash. Killing him is no big deal, so why hesitate?'

Seeing the look in Lin Feng's eyes, Zhang Heng froze for a moment, then burst out laughing. "You're not afraid? Haha... Aren't you afraid that if you push me too far, I'll take you down with me?"

"A cornered dog will leap over the wall. Of course, I'm afraid."

Lin Feng said, looking at Zhang Heng calmly.

"If you're afraid, why do you still want to kill me?"

Zhang Heng demanded, his eyes wide.

"You're right, I am afraid. But even if a cornered dog like you leaps, you can't hurt me."

Lin Feng shrugged and said nonchalantly. He didn't want to waste any more time on this guy. With a wave of his hand, he declared, "Are you done with your last words? If so, I'll send you to see King Yama!"

With that, Lin Feng leaped, kicking at Zhang Heng in mid-air. Seeing this, Zhang Heng gritted his teeth and swung his longsword to meet the attack.

He knew that if he didn't fight with everything he had, he would truly die here. There was no hope of getting lucky!

"BANG!"

A dull thud sounded out, and Zhang Heng was sent flying backward.

"GACK!"

Zhang Heng spat out a large mouthful of blood. His entire chest had caved in, and at least three or four of his ribs were broken. He lay on the ground, on the verge of death, clearly not going to make it.

Lin Feng lowered his sword, turned, and prepared to walk toward Zhang Heng again.

Just then, Zhang Heng suddenly shouted, "Lin Feng, wait!"

Lin Feng stopped and slowly turned his head, his gaze fixed forward, as if waiting for Zhang Heng to continue.

"I can tell you a secret!"

Zhang Heng said weakly.

At this, Lin Feng's brow furrowed slightly. This secret might actually be of some value to him. So he stopped and gestured for Zhang Heng to continue speaking.

"You've probably guessed that our conflict this time started with the daughter of East Sea's richest man!"

"But have you ever wondered why our Black Tiger Gang would dare to kidnap Li Minde's daughter? We have no conflict with him, right?"
