Chapter 29: Stubborn
But just as he was about to kick Huang Wenzhi away, Huang Wenzhi, who had been playing in the rain, suddenly stood up.
His expression was vacant, and his eyes were so empty they seemed to have lost all focus.
He ambled slowly over to Wang Kai and tilted his head, staring at him as drool dripped from the corner of his mouth.
"Wh-what do you want? Don't try anything funny! If you do, I'll fucking kill you!"
Seeing Huang Wenzhi's crazed state, Wang Kai shuddered and quickly backed away, his eyes fixed on him warily.
Huang Wenzhi's behavior was completely beyond his expectations. 'Damn it, this guy isn't acting like a normal human at all. He's like a complete madman.'
"I'm your daddy!"
But before Wang Kai could even react, Huang Wenzhi slapped him square across the face, letting out a gleeful shout.
PFFT!
Even though Huang Wenzhi had been rendered witless by one of Lin Feng's needles, he was, after all, still a Martial Artist. His inhuman strength was very much intact.
The force of the slap sent Wang Kai flying!
Wang Kai spat out a mouthful of blood as he was knocked to the ground. The searing pain on his cheek made him want to scream in a frenzy.
"Damn it, you've lost your mind!"
Scrambling to his feet, Wang Kai clutched his already swelling face. His eyes were filled with rage as he whipped a black pistol from his waistband and aimed it at Huang Wenzhi.
But just as he was about to pull the trigger, a glint flashed in his eyes, and he forced his anger back down.
'Something's not right. Huang Wenzhi would never have the guts to attack me, no matter how bold he is. Besides, he looks like he's lost his mind.'
'The only person capable of doing this... has to be Lin Feng.'
At this thought, Wang Kai slowly holstered his pistol as an idea sparked in his mind.
'Huang Wenzhi's master is one of the most powerful experts I have access to. And this... this was just too damn humiliating!'
'I know that if I go back and tell my father, not even Wang Tianlin could protect that brat Lin Feng.'
'But I can't bear the shame of telling the Wang Family that I was beaten into submission by some twenty-year-old kid in a backwater city. More importantly, if word of this gets out, how could I, Wang Kai, ever show my face again?'
With that thought, Wang Kai shot Huang Wenzhi a venomous glare. He was about to say something, but another swift strike came at him!
"I'm your daddy!"
Another slap landed squarely on his other cheek.
"SON OF A BITCH!"
Wang Kai was utterly incandescent with rage, but he was no match for his opponent. All he could do was glare viciously at Huang Wenzhi, who was now dancing around gleefully.
"What are you all gawking at? Get him! Tie him up and bring him back!"
He roared at the men in the car. Several bodyguards finally snapped out of it, scrambling out of the vehicle and lunging at Huang Wenzhi.
"Whoa! Who are you guys!"
Huang Wenzhi cried out in a panic as he dodged their attacks.
However, he no longer possessed his superhuman combat skills. Relying solely on his powerful physique, he was securely tied up with hemp ropes by the group of burly men in under three minutes.
"Take him back!"
With an impossibly grim expression, Wang Kai waved his hand. The bodyguards immediately hauled Huang Wenzhi into the car.
「Meanwhile」Not long after Wang Kai and Huang Wenzhi departed, Lin Feng, having recovered most of his speed, made his way back to the manor.
When Lin Feng's figure appeared at the gate, he paused for a moment before a faint smile touched his lips.
He could feel a constant, prickling sensation all over his body, as if he were being poked by countless needles. It was most intense between his eyebrows.
This was his sixth sense at work, a faculty born from his immense power. During his fight with Huang Wenzhi, he had relied almost entirely on this formidable sixth sense to evade his opponent's attacks.
The reason for this feeling was simple.
At least half a dozen guns were aimed at him from the shadows, waiting for a single command to unleash a volley of fire.
"Sir, you're finally back."
A faint rustling sound came from a waist-high patch of grass near the main gate. The next moment, the driver Li Minde had assigned to Lin Feng emerged from it.
"Mm. Is Yan Xue all right?"
Lin Feng didn't seem surprised; he simply asked the question.
After all, he could see his manor was surrounded by countless guards posted in the shadows. Huang Wenzhi would have needed to grow wings to get inside.
"Miss Yan is fine, just a bit shaken up from tonight."
The driver shook his head, his hawk-like eyes scanning the surroundings. He'd lost all trace of his usual simple, honest demeanor.
Lin Feng nodded slightly. "In that case, let's head inside."
"Right away. After you, sir."
The driver made a respectful gesture for Lin Feng to proceed, then led the way toward the manor.
In the living room, Su Yanxue was already waiting, surrounded by several female bodyguards. The moment she saw Lin Feng, she rushed over, her face etched with worry.
"You're finally back! Are you all right?"
Su Yanxue looked Lin Feng up and down, only letting out a sigh of relief when she saw he was uninjured.
"Don't worry. It takes more than a little thing like this to stop me."
Lin Feng waved a hand, signaling that he was perfectly fine.
"You can stand down the alert. Nothing will happen now that I'm back."
With a casual wave, he dismissed them. The female bodyguards bowed respectfully and quickly withdrew, closing the door behind them.
While these female bodyguards weren't as formidable as the Wang Family's elite guards, they were absolutely top-tier among ordinary people.
After everyone had withdrawn, Lin Feng turned to look at Su Yanxue, who was standing rather self-consciously by the door. He couldn't help but chuckle.
"What's with you?"
"N-nothing."
Su Yanxue lowered her beautiful face, her slender, fair hands nervously twisting the hem of her clothes. Her heart was pounding in her chest.
"You're acting strange."
Lin Feng casually sat on the sofa, his gaze resting on Su Yanxue's delicate face.
"Oh."
As if sensing her own behavior was a little awkward, Su Yanxue blushed and slowly walked over to sit beside him.
"Thank you."
Su Yanxue suddenly looked up at Lin Feng, her expression utterly serious.
"You saved my life. I owe you two lives."
"Heh, you have a way with words. But this is what I ought to do. You're my woman—who else would I protect?"
A smile played on Lin Feng's lips as he listened to her somewhat stiff declaration.
By now, Su Yanxue had changed into a pink nightgown. Wearing slippers, she stood on the soft carpet, looking exceptionally gentle and sweet.
"I'm not trying to have a way with words. I'm just stating a fact."
