Chapter 91: End of the Road
"You got it! I'll get right on it."
Huo Wenhao didn't dare refuse and agreed in a heartbeat.
Meanwhile, as Lin Chuyue was anxiously searching for someone with the right skills, the computer screen in front of her suddenly went black.
Then, a sentence appeared: "I hear you're looking for a computer expert. You've found one."
Lin Chuyue froze for a moment, but quickly recovered. She tried to regain control of her computer but found it was impossible.
"Don't waste your energy. Once I've hacked a computer, I'm the only one who can control it."
On the screen, sentences appeared one after another.
"You want to find the surveillance footage, right? I'll help you."
"We'll be in touch again in half an hour."
As the last sentence vanished, the computer screen returned to normal.
Lin Chuyue quickly tried to find any trace of the intrusion, but she couldn't find a thing.
'This is a true master!'
She leaned back in her chair, her expression grim.
'Who on earth is this person?'
'Why would they suddenly help me?'
'And they didn't even mention payment. That's obviously not normal.'
But she decided to wait and see.
Friend or foe, Lin Chuyue was no match for them when it came to computers. She might as well see what this person had up their sleeve.
Lin Chuyue watched the time.
When half an hour was up,
the mouse cursor on her screen started moving on its own, just as promised. A moment later, she received an email from an anonymous user.
When she opened it, she was stunned to see a segment of the previously missing surveillance footage.
The video showed Xu Fang sneaking back in through the underground garage door after all the company employees had gone home.
He then went to Lin Chuyue's office, expertly turned on her computer, entered the password, and swiftly copied all the files.
"How is this possible!"
Lin Chuyue shot up from her chair in disbelief. "How could he know my computer password?"
To protect important data, her office computer was equipped with the latest firewall, making it impossible for outsiders to hack.
Even if someone got lucky and broke through, the computer would automatically disconnect from the network.
'No, wait!'
Lin Chuyue suddenly remembered something.
There was one time she had indeed turned on her computer in front of Xu Fang. She hadn't thought much of it then, just habitually typing in her password.
'Could he have seen it then?'
But with this video, Lin Chuyue wasn't so worried anymore.
She refused to believe Xu Fang was arrogant enough to risk being arrested by exposing the Lin Clan's secrets.
That would land him a prison sentence of ten years or more!
However, to prevent him from taking a scorched-earth approach, she tried typing a message in the email, hoping the master hacker would see it.
"Xu Fang has more than one backup. They're in his email and with his friends."
"Please help me take care of them. I'll be sure to give you a satisfactory reward."
The hacker replied quickly. "No need for a reward. I'll handle these problems for you, but you'll have to get the copy Xu Fang has on him yourself."
He could only act online; besides, he wasn't even in Jiangcheng.
A look of delight finally crossed Lin Chuyue's face. "Who sent you to help me?"
But the other party had gone silent, and her computer returned to normal.
Lin Chuyue knew she couldn't press for answers. She looked at the video saved on her phone and dialed Xu Fang's number.
"Xu Fang, let's meet."
"Hmph! Figured it out so quickly?"
Xu Fang's voice was tinged with mockery. "But then again, it's not like you're some chaste maiden."
"Saying you'd 'think about it' was just a way to save face, wasn't it?"
"I'm in that hotel room right now. Come on over."
To be safe, Lin Chuyue didn't agree. She also slipped a can of pepper spray into her purse. "No. Let's meet at the restaurant downstairs instead."
"Fine. You'll be my woman sooner or later anyway. Lin Chuyue, you can't escape!"
Stepping into the same restaurant from that afternoon, Lin Chuyue felt a wave of disgust. She decided she would never come here again.
Xu Fang was already there, wearing only a bathrobe. He'd left it open to expose his chest, but there wasn't a hint of muscle definition—just skin and bones.
He intentionally let it hang open, revealing a lecherous smile. "Chuyue, since you've made up your mind, come with me."
"Impossible," Lin Chuyue refused again.
Xu Fang's face darkened. "Lin Chuyue, this is your last chance. Watch out, or the Lin Clan will go bankrupt!"
"You're just a public bus that countless others have ridden. Don't act like some chaste maiden with me!"
Lin Chuyue suddenly raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face again!
The sound was so crisp it immediately drew the attention of the remaining two tables of guests and the waitstaff.
But they just watched, showing no intention of getting involved.
Xu Fang hopped in fury. "You dare hit me again! Fine, Lin Chuyue, just you wait!"
"I won't just leak part of it and get the Lin Clan sued for breach of contract!"
"I'll also take the rest to a new venture capital firm and make sure the Lin Clan is completely finished!"
Lin Chuyue sneered and took out her phone. "Xu Fang, out of respect for the value you once brought to the Lin Clan, I was going to give you one last chance."
"But you're a thief to the core, and you still dare to threaten me!"
"I've already notified my lawyer to send this video to the police!"
Xu Fang stared in disbelief at the video playing on her phone. After several seconds, he lunged, trying to snatch it.
Luckily, Lin Chuyue was already on guard. She immediately stepped back and pulled out her pepper spray. "Back off, now!"
"The one on my phone is just one copy. I have it on my home computer and so does my lawyer. Don't be a fool!"
"If you dare to intentionally harm me, that's another charge!"
Xu Fang was a well-educated man; he quickly calmed down.
Without a second thought, his knees gave way, and he knelt on the floor, starting to play the victim.
"President Lin, it was only because I thought you were so beautiful that I got these crooked ideas. I never really meant to do it."
"I was just trying to scare you, that's all. I lost my head. President Lin, please, just let me off this one time, won't you?"
"I still have an elderly mother at home. If I go to jail, the shock will be too much for her."
"She has a heart condition. What if she has an attack?!"
In the past, Lin Chuyue might have felt sorry for him.
But after everything she had been through recently, Lin Chuyue had grown much colder.
"If you truly cared about your elderly mother, you wouldn't have done this!"
"If something happens to your mother, it will be your fault, not mine. You have to pay the price for your actions!"
Seeing that Lin Chuyue's mind was truly made up, Xu Fang dropped the act. He snarled, "Lin Chuyue, if you really send me to prison, I guarantee you'll regret it!"
"I'll make sure you die a horrible death! You bitch, you slut!"
Xu Fang spewed filth, his words utterly vile. He was clearly unrepentant.
Lin Chuyue didn't trade insults with him; she just listened.
This was nothing more than the final roar of a powerless man.
"Just wait. The police will be here any minute!"
The words had barely left her lips.
Her lawyer strode through the door, followed by several uniformed police officers.
Xu Fang's expression became even more savage. "You slut, I'll kill you!"
At the end of his rope, he wasn't thinking of repentance, but of attacking Lin Chuyue.
