Chapter 83: He Must Die Tonight
Xiao Ye had wanted to say he was fine. It was just a broken arm. Once the bone was set, he could use his own topical ointment, and it would heal in no time.
As for his internal injuries, a single dose of medicine would be enough to take care of them.
But seeing how worried Lin Chuyue looked, Xiao Ye suddenly changed his mind.
He suddenly wanted to see just how much this girl cared about him.
With that thought, Xiao Ye let his head fall to the side and slid from the railing to the ground.
Lin Chuyue jumped, her face turning deathly pale as she reached out to catch him.
But when she saw his twisted arm, she didn't know where to put her hands, and she started crying again in a panic.
"Xiao Ye, what's wrong?"
"I… It hurts a little."
Xiao Ye pretended to be too weak to speak, his eyes only half-open.
Lin Chuyue remembered how he had shielded her, and her heart clenched painfully.

"Ambulance! Get here now!"

He opened his eyes and said with a smile, "Silly girl, I'm still alive and well."

She looked at Xiao Ye, who was now full of life. Any trace of his earlier weakness was gone.
"You… You were tricking me!"

"Hey, don't cry."
Xiao Ye used his good arm to wipe the tears from her face. "If you keep crying, your face will be a mess."
Lin Chuyue turned her head away resentfully. "Don't talk to me. You're so annoying right now!"
'I was so scared, and it turns out he did it on purpose!'
"Are you really annoyed with me?" Xiao Ye sighed. "I might have tricked you, but I really am injured."

Lin Chuyue sat down beside him, hugging her knees. Her voice still thick with tears, she said, "The ambulance will be here soon."
Just then, her phone rang. She answered it, only to receive some bad news.
The ambulance was in an accident on the way and couldn't make it.
They were sending a second vehicle, but it might not arrive for another hour.
An hour was far too long. Xiao Ye was still bleeding from his injuries.
'If we keep waiting, what if it gets worse?'
Feeling anxious, Lin Chuyue decided to call the police.
Before long, a police car arrived first and took the two of them to the nearest hospital.

「The Chen Residence.」
Chen Bohua received the news, his face dark. "I can't believe they survived even that!"

This was standard procedure, so Xiao Ye didn't say anything and went with Lin Chuyue to the infusion room.
The young nurse prepped the IV solution and inserted the needle into the back of Xiao Ye's hand.
Lin Chuyue sat beside him. Recalling the car crash, she still felt a sense of lingering fear.
'If Xiao Ye hadn't shielded me, it wouldn't be his arm that was broken… it would have been my neck…'
She looked at Xiao Ye's arm, in its cast and sling, and felt a wave of emotion. "I'll go get you something to eat."
But Xiao Ye stopped her. "Don't go out. We're not completely safe yet."
"What do you mean?"
The color drained from Lin Chuyue's face as a sudden thought struck her. "Are you saying… the car crash was deliberate?"
The police hadn't concluded their investigation yet, so she hadn't thought much about it.
After all, it wasn't unheard of for accidents to happen on the highway. Besides driver fatigue, it could also have been a problem with the vehicle itself.
Xiao Ye nodded. "It was deliberate. The Chen Family did it. The driver admitted it himself while you were unconscious."
