Chapter 267 268: The Unwelcome Person, The Favor Owed
Xuan Kexin struggled to push the table in the room against the door. The sound of something hitting the wall outside had stopped, but a pool of blood seeped in from under the door—a horrifying sight.
Xiaoyu huddled in a corner, pressing her hands hard against her mouth to keep from crying out.
Xuan Kexin, trembling all over, leaned on the table to add more weight.
Coming to her senses, Li Huiran freed her hands. She took out her phone and dialed a number she had already deleted, but the only response in the quiet room was the busy signal.
'Quiet?'
The realization hit all three of them at once. It was too quiet outside. Even if something terrible had happened to Xiaoye, there was no way those thugs would have just let them go.
But there wasn't a single sound of anyone trying to break down the door, not even the shouting from the man with the scorpion tattoo on his face.
'Something's wrong. Something's very wrong!'
Li Huiran gritted her teeth and said, "Open the door. We're going out to look!"
Xiaoyu immediately shouted, "Don't! President Li, whatever you do, don't open the door!"
Xuan Kexin also hesitated, undecided.
After another moment, there was still no sound from outside.
Li Huiran said, "If something happened, hiding in here is useless. Those thugs will get in sooner or later. Let's go out and take a look!"
Xuan Kexin nodded. The two of them moved the table aside, undid the lock, and gently opened the door a crack.
Peeking through the crack, both of them stared with wide, horrified eyes, quickly covering their mouths to keep themselves from screaming.
All the thugs outside were lying on the ground, their bodies a tragic sight. They were clearly dead.
'How did they die?' The two were filled with questions. Then, calming themselves, they let out long sighs of relief. 'We're saved!'
Li Huiran opened the door fully and searched for any sign of Xiaoye.
She saw him just by the door, slumped against the wall, his state unclear. Blood was still flowing from the back of his head. A machete was embedded in his shoulder, and he was desperately clutching a severed arm to his chest.
"Xiaoye! Xiaoye!"
Li Huiran called his name twice with no response. Xuan Kexin came over and checked his pulse. He still had a heartbeat, but the wound on his head looked dangerous.
Given the situation outside, going to a hospital was impossible. Suppressing her nausea, Li Huiran started searching the hotel for a first-aid kit.
Xiaoyu followed them out, and upon seeing the scene, she let out a retching sound and began to dry heave.
"Who on earth saved us?" Xuan Kexin wondered aloud.
An image of someone surfaced in Li Huiran's mind, but she immediately shook her head. 'It can't be him.'
The moment she shook her head, she saw a figure outside the hotel. Resentment surged within her. If there was a ranking of people Li Huiran least wanted to see, the person outside would rank second.
Li Huiran hopped through the pools of blood to get out of the hotel. She said to the figure in a white tracksuit, "Are you doing this just to disgust me?"
"Yes, but not entirely!" Murong Qing replied softly, then explained, "And don't look at me like you want to eat me alive. I didn't save you intentionally. I was looking for Chen Dong. I just couldn't find him and happened to sense you were here."
Li Huiran said in a huff, "If you're looking for Chen Dong, don't ask me!"
Murong Qing turned her head and gave her a strange look.
Li Huiran was annoyed, but there was no one else around who could help her. She relented and said, "Please, help me save someone. I'll owe you a favor."
The look Murong Qing gave her grew even stranger. The corners of her mouth curled into a conspiratorial smile. "You mean the one inside who was shouting about how much he likes you?"
Li Huiran's imposing manner faltered, and she no longer dared to meet Murong Qing's gaze. "Yes. As long as you save him, I'll agree to one request, provided it's within my power to fulfill!"
Murong Qing's bright eyes crinkled as she smiled. "It's a deal!"
Then she stood there for a long moment without moving.
Li Huiran grew annoyed with the wait and said coldly, "Well, are you going to do it or not?"
Murong Qing replied with a smile, "I already have!"
Li Huiran gritted her teeth. "You're just trying to make a fool of me, aren't you?"
Murong Qing extended her slender fingers. At their tips, small spheres of water condensed, transformed into ice flowers, then melted back into spheres.
"This omnipresent red glow covering the earth has extremely powerful healing effects. There's no need to move him. He'll be fine on his own before long."
Li Huiran was stunned. "What? You mean this isn't the end of the world?"
Murong Qing let out a snort of laughter, her gaze toward Li Huiran filled with superiority. "The end of the world? Is that what you people who don't cultivate the Martial Dao think? No wonder there's so much chaos in the streets!"
Li Huiran stared at her coldly, their gazes clashing in mid-air. "It doesn't count. You didn't do anything. That favor doesn't count!"
The spheres of water in Murong Qing's hand merged into a larger one, which then transformed into one exquisite weapon after another—saber, spear, sword, halberd, axe, battle-axe, hook, trident...—cycling through them endlessly. The smug look in her eyes grew more and more pronounced.
"How could it not count? After all, I'm the one who saved you!"
Li Huiran wanted to argue but couldn't find a rebuttal, so she could only let out a cold snort.
Murong Qing dispersed the sphere of water, her expression turning serious. "You said it yourself. I'd like to cash in that favor right now."
Li Huiran's eyes narrowed slightly. "Name it. As long as I can do it."
Murong Qing's eyes twinkled. "It's nothing difficult, really. From now on, I'll be the elder sister, and you'll be the younger sister. That's my only request. Simple, right?"
Li Huiran froze on the spot, staring. She seriously suspected she had misheard. How could such a person even exist?
