Chapter 242 243: Poisonous Insect Nest
"Puppet!" the voice roared angrily. "No! I, Wu Tianchong, am the Gu God in the flesh!"
A bolt of lightning shot through the vast cavern, homing in on the source of the voice. Illuminated by the flash, his form was revealed: a black, beetle-like monster standing nearly three meters tall. His entire body was encased in a black exoskeleton. Innumerable green compound eyes sprouted where his eyes should have been, rendering his head utterly inhuman. Spiral, serrated mouthparts took up most of his face, and a pair of black, steel-like wings sprouted from his back.
He swatted the lightning away with a backhanded strike of his jet-black claw. "Lightning Arts? Hmph. If this is why you dared to charge into my Poisonous Insect Nest, then you can just stay and become nutrients!"
Chen Dong frowned slightly. The monster's strength was greater than he had anticipated.
He immediately condensed a Thunder Spear, scooped up Murong Qing, and thrust it toward a section of the cave wall.
RUMBLE... Wu Tianchong tilted his head in confusion, unsure of what Chen Dong was doing.
'There's nothing but rock in that direction. And behind the rock... right, the sea!'
Realizing this, Wu Tianchong burst out laughing. "Trying to escape? Too late! Sons, kill him for me!"
At his roar, thousands of adult monsters leaped from the rock wall behind him. They were all bare-chested and wore masks, and over a hundred of them had reached the Outer Appearance Realm.
Insectoid Outer Appearances materialized one after another within the cavern. Over a hundred of them stood side-by-side, a sight both magnificent and terrifying.
The Outer Appearances swarmed toward Chen Dong, but he had no intention of stopping.
Just before the creatures attacked, he finally broke through the hundred-foot-thick rock wall. Below the cliff face lay the vast ocean. Chen Dong planted a kiss on Murong Qing's forehead and whispered, "Wait for me a moment!"
Murong Qing nodded obediently. She knew that with her current strength, she would be of no help to Chen Dong if she stayed. With a single leap, she plunged into the ocean.
Wu Tianchong, who had been furious at the sight of their impending escape, was about to order his creatures to give chase. But then Chen Dong turned back, which struck him as odd.
Shrouded in a violet-blue aura, Chen Dong spoke in a cold voice, "Who said I was running away? I'm not going anywhere until I've slaughtered every last one of you and completed the mission the Young Miss gave me!"
Wu Tianchong flew into a rage, as if a god had been defied by a mere insect, and roared viciously, "Kill him for me!"
The horde of creatures from the Outer Appearance and Celestial Spirit Realms charged furiously toward Chen Dong.
Cloaked in the violet-blue aura, Chen Dong moved with incredible speed, weaving between the creatures. The insectoid Outer Appearances toppled one after another, and those at the Celestial Spirit Realm died the instant he touched them!
Wu Tianchong's arrogant tone vanished, replaced by a terrified shriek. "No, no! My children! Who on earth are you?"
Chen Dong's slaughter only quickened. He periodically hurled his Thunder Spear to annihilate the young, his grim voice echoing through the cavern: "Just a simp!"
"Impossible! Impossible! In this world, no one besides the four great Divine Departments could fight their way through so many Outer Appearances! Can it be... are you one of the four Divine Departments?!" Wu Tianchong demanded.
Chen Dong didn't pause his slaughter to answer. In fact, he seemed to revel in it even more. With every creature he killed, his progress in the Asura Dao advanced, and so did his progress in the notoriously difficult-to-raise Saint Dao.

After Chen Dong had advanced to the Inner Realm, four pillars of light appeared within the fused Xuanshan in his sea of consciousness. They each represented a part of the Six Dao, the Cultivation Technique he practiced.
These Six Dao were not the same as the traditional ones.
The Six Dao of Buddhism are the Celestial Dao, Human Dao, Asura Dao, Beast Dao, Hungry Ghost Dao, and Hell Dao.
The Cultivation Technique Chen Dong had obtained from his fused memories, however, consisted of the Red Dust Dao, Saint Dao, Asura Dao, and Yellow Springs Dao. Though it was named the Six Dao, Chen Dong currently possessed only four of them. He figured the other two would require fusing with the Xuanshan from other seas of consciousness.
Chen Dong was still exploring the effects of this Cultivation Technique. However, he knew that with every creature he killed, the white pillar of light representing the Saint Dao and the crimson pillar representing the Asura Dao would rise slightly and shine brighter.
"Stop! I told you to stop!" Wu Tianchong roared viciously. "Aren't you afraid of me making a move? My power is equivalent to the Inner Realm Peak of your Martial Dao!"
Every adult creature in the cavern had been slaughtered. Chen Dong flicked the blood from his Thunder Spear and smirked, "If you were able to act, would you have waited until now?"
"You're forcing my hand!"
"'Forcing your hand? More like you forced mine!' Chen Dong hurled his Thunder Spear again, this time toward a dense cluster of the young creatures.
BOOM! In the ensuing electrical storm, thousands of the young were turned to ash.
"AAAAAAAHHHH! I will kill you! I will melt your flesh into an acidic slurry and feed it to my sons!"
Condensing another Thunder Spear in his hand, Chen Dong taunted, "Well, come and get me!"
The countless compound eyes on Wu Tianchong's head were fixed on Chen Dong, his serrated mouthparts grinding back and forth. Yet he dared not move a single step from his spot.
After another electrical storm, Wu Tianchong roared again, "I'm going to kill you! I swear I'm going to kill you!..."
"Stop shouting over there. If you have any courage, come over here and expose the Gu God that's behind you! Without that Gu God, would you still have any power?"
At these words, Wu Tianchong fell silent. "You know? How did you find out? The area around me is shielded from all perception! There's no way you could know this secret!"
