Chapter 63: Sun Yuanjing
Chen Dong arrived at the office, ready for another day of slacking off.
Wang Hao was showing off Qin Yun's autograph to Xu Qing.
Xu Qing kept trying to snatch it from him.
Chen Dong turned on his computer and logged into the game.
He took one look at the leaderboard and was dumbfounded.
What the hell? That Sheng Yi He Huan had once again climbed to the top of the power rankings.
'I spent a million, and I still got surpassed?'
Chen Dong sucked in a sharp breath. That was his marriage fund!
'But so what? Who needs a wife when you have the game!'
As a mega-whale with over 1.39 billion to his name, Chen Dong was feeling cocky. He was ready for another round.
He expertly grabbed his phone and started pumping more money into the game.
Meanwhile, Sheng Yi He Huan was spamming him with taunts.
"Once a noob, always a noob! Come on out and fight me!"
"What are you doing hiding in the safe zone? Come get some!"
"..."
Chen Dong furiously dumped another million into the game. As his combat power skyrocketed, he earned a server-wide title.
The undisputed number one player on the server was now online!
Just as Chen Dong was about to teach Sheng Yi He Huan a lesson, his phone chimed with a message.
He opened it. The message was from someone named Huang: "The Sun Family's Second Master, Sun Yuanjing, has set out for the Li Family Manor. He might be there already. His cultivation is at the peak of the Grandmaster Realm. You must be careful."
True or false, Chen Dong had to take the message seriously.
Chen Dong had no idea what the "peak of the Grandmaster Realm" truly entailed, but if Sun Yuanjing was at the Li Family Manor, he had to take precautions.
He immediately tried calling Li Qinghe, but the call wouldn't connect.
'Something must have happened,' Chen Dong realized.
He tried calling Xia Yi next, but her phone was also unreachable.
Chen Dong's expression soured. He immediately called Li Huiran. The moment the call connected, he wasted no words: "Something's happened at the Li Family Manor. You're coming back with me!"
In truth, Chen Dong was far faster than any car, but he had to guard against this being a diversionary tactic. Besides, with Shen Gong protecting Li Jianwen, he wasn't worried about him.
Lu Yongxiu should have been at the manor as well, but with Li Qinghe and Xia Yi both unreachable, something had to be wrong.
Li Huiran, still busy with work, answered the call. Her expression changed in an instant. She dropped everything and sprinted toward the parking garage.
When they arrived at the Li Family Manor, their hearts pounded with anxiety. The two guards at the gate were already unconscious on the ground.
Inside, the scene was one of utter chaos.
Every guard they recognized was down.
The scene clearly showed signs of a massive struggle.
Lu Yongxiu, his arm severed, lay in a pool of his own blood, no longer breathing.
Nearby, Xia Yi and Li Qinghe had also collapsed, blood trickling from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths.
The only person left standing was a disheveled, long-bearded old man, clutching the Ancient Sword Divine Artifact with a look of elation.
Seeing Chen Dong and Li Huiran arrive, he burst out laughing. "The heavens are smiling upon me! To think I'd acquire another Divine Artifact! HAHAHA!"
Li Huiran stared at the scene, the light draining from her eyes, and sank silently to her knees.
Chen Dong's eyes filled with murderous intent, and a biting, cold killing aura radiated from him.
The Li Family patriarch had treated him like his own grandson, and Xia Yi had always been exceptionally kind to him.
This sparked an unwavering resolve in Chen Dong to kill the old man.
Chen Dong's voice was as cold as the depths of Hell. "You're Sun Yuanjing, right? You're going to regret ever setting foot in this world."
Sun Yuanjing unleashed a powerful aura of his own. "So, you're Chen Dong. I was waiting for you!"
As he spoke, he gave a casual wave of his hand, and several leaves shot toward Chen Dong like indestructible blades.
Chen Dong simply raised a hand, and the leaves shattered in midair.
With a single, blurring step, he crossed the distance between them and appeared directly before Sun Yuanjing, unleashing a hate-filled punch with the force of a landslide.
Sun Yuanjing's expression changed. His aura surged, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes, and he slashed the ancient sword in his hand directly at Chen Dong's fist.
The collision of their pure True Qi sent a massive shockwave sweeping out from them, obliterating the surrounding flowers and potted plants.
A flicker of disbelief appeared in Sun Yuanjing's eyes.
He had put his full power into that strike. While it wasn't his ultimate technique, it was still a testament to his ability.
He said in a low voice, "To think one so young could possess such power. I am at the very peak of the Grandmaster Realm!"
"Peak Grandmaster? Never heard of it. I'm just here to save my friends!"
Unseen by the old man, Li Qinghe and Xia Yi, who had been lying near Sun Yuanjing, were now safely beside Li Huiran, moved there and shielded by Chen Dong's True Qi.
Sun Yuanjing was aghast. To not only block his full-power attack, but to simultaneously use True Qi to move two people to safety? That was a feat he couldn't even imagine performing.
"Just who are you?"
Chen Dong's killing intent billowed. "Your killer."
With his friends out of harm's way, Chen Dong could finally unleash his full power. The aura coiling around him grew impossibly dense and powerful.
Sun Yuanjing's expression grew grave. He slung the ancient sword onto his back and activated his Heavenly Dipper qi, an energy he had only just begun to condense.
"I have been the undefeated master of Jiangzhou for decades," he roared. "You think a little whelp like you can defeat me?"
His tattered robes billowed as True Qi condensed over the surface of his body before gathering in his fist.
Chen Dong's aura erupted. He leaped into the air, condensing all his True Qi into the tip of a single finger before thrusting it forward.
A deafening crack echoed through the manor.
BOOM!
Finger met fist.
Sun Yuanjing gritted his teeth in agony. A bloody hole appeared in his fist. The True Qi had pierced straight through his entire arm, shattering the bone and severing his meridians. Blood streamed down his limb.
His arm was ruined in a single move.
