Chapter 103: Shu Tian
The fear and panic that had filled his face were gone. His expression was calm.
He took out the bell beside him and pressed it. A moment later, a tall, heavily built man entered the room.
His most striking features were the wolf ears atop his head and the wolf tail behind him.
Although he possessed a human body, his appearance made him look more like a beastman than a human.
Mo Beichan suppressed the disdain rising within him.
This beastman was someone Su Yao had specifically ordered her people to obtain. She had even instructed them to treat the beastman well.
Mo Beichan had never understood why. The creature possessed almost no human etiquette or manners.
It ate meat... any kind of meat. Human flesh, zombie flesh, mutated animals... it didn’t care.
To Mo Beichan, it was disgusting. Usually, he would deliberately put on an expression of disgust whenever he encountered this special assistant.
But this time... there was no disgust in his eyes.
"Zero, I want you to investigate someone’s whereabouts for me." Mo Beichan kept his hands behind his back.
Zero, the half-beastman, brimming with excitement, quickly said, "Boss, just give me the word!"
After explaining some details to him, Mo Beichan dismissed him and walked toward his master bedroom. He took out a new outfit and murmured,
"Since I am visiting them, I need to show them some courtesy."

Ni Mengxue booked a private laboratory and was in deep awe of the scene in front of her.
The laboratory was a massive, two-story rectangular block built from seamless, smooth-poured white concrete. The lower level consists of a continuous wall of floor-to-ceiling, thick bulletproof glass panels.
Directly above each glass panel sits a heavy, rolled-up steel security shutter tucked into the concrete framing, ready to slide down into place.
The second floor was a solid concrete block that featured a long, continuous horizontal strip of dark, heavily tinted ribbon windows stretching across its entire length.
Everything was spotless. Even the Swan Base’s laboratory wasn’t this clean.
During the entire process of renting the room, she kept on receiving strange gazes, but she was unfazed by them.
The room was sealed by a single, heavy steel door that sits completely flush with the wall. A thick black rubber gasket runs along the entire edge of the door frame, creating an airtight, pressure-sealed lock when shut.
To the right of the door was a small, recessed touchscreen that glows with a faint amber light, controlling the room’s locks and vitals.
The room’s ceiling consists of a flat, recessed grid of soft LED panels that emit a completely even.
A narrow, continuous slit runs around the very edge of the ceiling, silently pulling air down into the room without the sound of spinning fans.
A long, sleek black workstation is molded directly out of the back wall, extending outward without any legs or visible supports.
Embedded completely flat into the center of the wall above the desk is a massive, seamless glass display screen.
"That female lead knows how to charm a scientist, huh?" Ni Mengxue murmured under her breath, her hand unconsciously touching the desk.
After doing a quick check and knowing there wasn’t any camera, Ni Mengxue took out the pre-processed ingredients and started to make healing potions in bulk.
From morning till the next afternoon, Ni Mengxue hardly took any break. She successfully made more than 200 vials of healing potions and 50 level-up potions.
After listing them to her base people and warning them about the upcoming zombie tide, she left the private room.
On the way, she bypassed the public laboratory and heard the sound of hooting, making her stop in her tracks.
"Yo, Mr Du’s ability to think outside the box has reached a new level. Now he claims that he wants an investor for an ability replication potion. Previously, sir, had thought of presence-hiding potions. Guess what happened? He failed and now owes a debt of 200,000 mid-tier zombie crystals!"
"You...let me go... I don’t want to do anything with you..." A timid voice echoed.
Ni Mengxue, on the other hand, was interested the moment she heard about the ability replication potion. For people of this era, it was an out-of-the-box thing.
But from where she had come from... it was already a common thing. Only... the formula was owned by a crazy green-haired researcher named Mark Shu.
It was said that when Mark first proposed the ability replication, everyone called him stupid. Only Ark was smart enough to recruit him. And the investment became a major hit.
Ni Mengxue wished to meet this Mark; however, by the time she was born, he was already dead. So she could only see his pictures.
His descendants were even crazier than him. They were the inventors of the ability-awakening potion. Though it came with a major drawback and was eventually banned, the Shu family was still respected a lot.
"Shu Tian, listen to me and obediently leave for mining. Maybe then you will be able to pay off your debt." Someone sneered, and Ni Mengxue’s heart skipped a beat.
"What is going on here?" She asked; her voice, though calm, echoed loudly.
Everyone’s expressions changed, and many of them looked at Ni Mengxue with mocking gazes.
Ni Mengxue was quite famous throughout the base, precisely because she had caused several scenes in front of its residents, especially those from the research department.
Many of them had been staying at the base for years and had witnessed how, in the beginning, Ni Mengxue had constantly pestered Su Yao to hand over some of the good husbands she had arranged.
Now, they simply assumed she had taken a liking to Shu Tian.
’Looks like I don’t need to compete with him anymore. Anyone Ni Mengxue takes a liking to is doomed.’
With that thought, one of the researchers gave Ni Mengxue a flattering smile.
"Miss Ni, please don’t misunderstand. We were just having a normal conversation. If you’ve taken a liking to Mr. Shu, I’ll back out."
